Do you get one?
Nope, I may get it once in awhile but I'll take that risk while letting my immune system do its thing.
Absolutely....the more people that do get it, the less it spreads and affects people that don't
nope, to young still
They were mandatory in the service and we were quite young back then. I have read that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable.
That's what I hear as well. I'm not saying I am immune I just don't think it is necessary for me right now. I've actually thought long and hard about this in the past and I know I have never been really sick, with a fever or any flu symptoms. And I've had about 2-3 minor colds that I can remember, which was basically just a stuffy nose/runny nose. I just don't get sick.
I just know that one day it's all going to catch up with me
I believe you are a bit mistaken here. The flu shot purpose is for your immune system to get 'up to speed' on fighting it. You're being exposed to a non-lethal case of it so your own immune system is better equipped to handle it when/if you get hit with the real thing.+ 1 on this. I understand why the flu shot is issued. I think my body should be more dependent on it's own virus fighting antibodies.
I'm not sure they are more vulnerable to getting the flu, but there are definite greater 'at risk' groups that if contracted, the flu will have a much more harsh effects on them than just feeling icky. The best way to protect everyone, and in particular the more at-risk groups, is to prevent the flu from being spread to them. Part of that includes the flu shot.I have read that children and the elderly are the most vulnerable.
