My dad used to DE shave with Floris shaving soap -- it had a number rather than a name, so I think it must have been No89. I have used TOBS sandalwood cream, and also MWF, both of which I've liked, but was thinking of getting some Floris, just to maintain family tradition. It is worth the rather high price?

I've never used it, but apparently the reformulated Floris soaps are not the complete disaster that the current Trumpers, Penhaligon's, T&H soaps have become.
I have three recently purchased Floris shaving soaps, No. 89, Elite, and JF. They have all been excellent, producing thick, protective, slick, and skin friendly lather. They are
among a handful of English shaving soaps that I find to be acceptable, the others being MWF and the five D.R. Harris soaps that I have and use regularly. Geo. F. Trumper,
TOBS, Penhaligon's, and T&H shaving soaps are in my opinion nothing short of horrid though their shaving creams are quite good.
