flea market find - wade & butcher DE

Picked up a few razors, but the only one worth bragging about is this nice little find. The blade has been used, but I don't imagine I'll find another, so I'll clean it up and sharpen it the best I can.

Paid $10 for it.

It just looks like it. Since the pins are square, they won't fit through a standard DE blade. W+B blades come up on EBay every now and then.

Ah...square peg, round hole. Duh!!

Yeah, and the squares on the bottom of the head are almost, but not quite large enough to accommodate the studs from a similarly shaped gillette head.

Yea, that was a disappointment when I got mine. But very nice looking complete set. The blade looks really thick.

Thick it is. I don't have a micrometer handy, but it's thicker than anything else I have here, with the possible exception of a valet autostrop blade. It looks like it might be a hair thicker than that too, but too hard to tell. The curve of it makes it hard to compare accurately.

Interesting, never heard of that brand but I have to wonder if "Butcher" in the title turned a few folks away as in "I don't want to butcher my face."
