I've only been DE shaving for a couple of months and so far have only used a couple of types of cream (TOBS). As a beginner I've enjoyed the ease of lathering with creams but have, as is typical for a newbie, been enjoying my fair share of cuts and rashes. Yesterday my wife went to our local supermarket in Paris, France, and I asked her to see what pre-shave oils they had, if any. She came back with a tub of Monsavin shaving soap, which she had not confused with pre-shave oil but it was half price from 1.70 to 0.85 so she thought she would get one. I looked it up on here and it seems to get pretty good reviews so I thought I would give it a try, once I'd read up on here how you actually make lather with soap as it was new to me. Well, last nights inaugural soap shave was great. It felt so much slicker than with cream and the result was a complete BBS with no cuts, no rash and no irritation. So I think I get it, soap is indeed very very good!!
