First Old Type

$15 shipped for just about any cased vintage gillette in that condition could be considered at least fair.

My knowledge of the old types is limited to single rings, double rings, and big fellows... That said, I think it's a pretty good deal. It looks like it may be silver? It's hard to say, but I really like silver plated razors so I'd consider that a bonus myself :)

In my opinion the Old Type is the best shaver that Gillette ever produced.
You got a wonderful deal :thumbup1:
Please shave with it rather than use it is a curiosity..... I don't believe it will disappoint you.

Nice razor you scored! It's exactly like the model I have (case and all). My Old Type does have a silver ball handle, and it's quite a nice shaver. Open combs are a wee touchy, but nothing that isn't felt at the first stroke. Hope you get fantastic shaves with yours. Boy do they feel super solid and well built. Nice heft and balance to them. Again... nice score.

Thanks! Yes, I noticed that Adama was a DE shaver. Seeing him shaving with a DE was the beginning of my interest in traditional wet shaving.

With Edward James Olmos's complexion....how would he know if he cut him self? :bored: Sorry, I couldn't resist, I like him and I think he is an awesome actor "Stand and Deliver" is a terrific movie, but you could loose your razor in those craters.

I admit that I am not a big fan of Gillette razors so far. I have a SS Flair Tip and a SS Black Tip. Both of which, I find a little too mild for my liking. So, I did some research on the Old Type and decided to give it a try if I could get a good deal on one. I'm hoping to put it in a rotation with my Merkur 1904, which is the only razor I like.

Since the Merkur 1904 is basically an Old Type clone as far as the design goes you should like the Gillette
