SO today was week two remembering that if I get myself out of bed early enough I can head to of my local fleamarket, independant vendors sell there thursday and sunday. This was also week two of finding close to exactly what I was looking for. Last week I found one of the mysterious "blank for concaving" wade and butchers, which I need to lightly sand/polish and send off to be honed. This week I was on the prowl for an injector, and what do you know, one presented itself to me. If it had been exactly what I was looking for it would have been a nice L type. But beggars really can't be choosers. Besiseds this little guy has already got my foot in the door.
An E type! There's no Eversharp anywhere on it, so that makes it pre 1946. Pretty nice shape for such an old razor! The funny thing is I pointed out to the guy the razor had nothing to do with the case, he shrugged his shoulders and sold me the lot for $10. Can't be beat at that price. This is post cleaning, but it really wasn't that dirty. I soaked it in hot water, and gave it a scrubbing bubbles bath. Anything else I should do to disinfect it or should that suffice? I found a woman selling an array of razor carts, but there were some schick branded injector blades for 5$ even - for 1 box of 7. Knowing thats essentially street price ( a little cheaper ) I decided to pass for the time being knowing I can get the blades there any thursday or sunday for 5$. I'll give this bad boy a try soon no doubt, and possibly post up my shave results/thoughts.
Last but not least, the un-matched case! It's marked for a GEM micromatic, and all the blades are SE's, but I have no GEM style razors to try out the blades in and match the case. Just another razor brand/style/type to try out when I get around to it. Considering I got the case for free (IMO I paid 10$ for the injector alone, and the case was a freebie/extra) I owe it to the little square chunk of plasic and autostrop (one GEM too) blades to get myself a micromatic to snug into the case sooner rather than later.
Man I really love the fleamarket
