First Ingrown since DE Shaving - Help

I've been DE shaving for 6 mths. I switched cause I heard it would help with ingrowns. I would get one occasionally that would take a month to come to the surface. It would get very infected and very uncomfortable.

Well I got my first one that is lost under my skin (on the neck). I was getting great shaves and life was great. This just makes me depressed. It hurts and is very infected. I can't see it to dig it out.

Can I get some advise.

Should I keep shaving over it until it eventually comes to the surface, which is what I use to do?
Should I grow a beard until I can get it out?
Any tips?

Can you work the spot with a soft bristled tooth brush? Rubbing it gentley might help... It might hurt really badly too, though.

If you want to dull down the pain smash up an asprin and take some of the powder and mix it with water to make a paste. Dab it on the ingrown, this should help with the pain and may help with the inflamation which might allow you to see and pull the hair back into reality.

Best of luck. I've never had one on my face that I can recall but occasionally my legs will get one and they are brutally painful. Can't even imagine one on my face. It is always somehow satisfying, though, when things finally burst and there's a disgustingly long hair hanging out.

I second the asprin thing, but instead of water, use witch hazel.

I haven't had one since I started wet shaving but my wife seems to love removing them. She'd come at me with either a needle or some handmade and very pointy tweezers I bought from a blacksmith. Do you have anybody who could help you? It's easier than looking in a mirror, even a magnified one and trying to do it yourself.
