First DE shave and fortunately, NO NICKS!

Hello everyone. My brother-in-law gave me a wonderful christmas gift of GFT shaving cream and after-shave. It piqued my interest in improving my shaving style and skill. I have used a sensor excel and canned shaving cream for over thirty years with very mixed results. I did my due-diligence and researched safety blade options, brushes, technique, (thanks mantic!), etc. I settled on an AOS badger brush and a Merkur Classic 33 with merkur blades. This morning, I made my first attempt at it with decent results, subtitle: no nicks, but not as close as I would like. I stressed the thought of no pressure, which helped greatly.

As a first question, I would like to ask if anyone has tips in handling the challenging area around and under the chin?

Thank you for this very helpful resource!

when I used to use DE blades I could recall Merkur as being really harsh and astra yellow n green packages doing a great jon..Feathers..even better!

Congratulations on your first shave. sounds like you did great. The chin just takes time and experience to get the technique down. Enjoy the journey.

First of all, welcome to Badger & Blade!!!

The chin and jawline are the hardest parts to get down. I would say to just keep working at it and don't use pressure. As you get familiar with your razor and technique, you may try blade-buffing for the areas that give you problems.
