What's new

first bottle of Aqua Velva

I just picked up my first bottle of aqua velva since i was a kid.

when i learned to shave i went and picked up a few AS's thinking that i would pick the one i liked the best and use it as "MY" aftershave. i liked the menthol so much i would try and apply more product to get more of a chill

when i became a member of B&B, it's scent only reminded me of being a little dude in the YMCA gym locker.

now that i know the history a little more, and think that my grandfather used it, im going to try and imagine "mid-century modern" like it was intended.

Interesting. I feel like someone just had the same day as me. I love mentholated products and have also been favouring those, but also picked up my first bottle of Aqua Velva Ice Blue today and really enjoyed it!

picked one up yesterday. Today was my first use, did enjoy, the scent was a lil odd at first, but its grown on me. As a young man, i won't be wearing this as often around the ladies or school(ladies present ) as it does remind me of some of the older family members i have, so last thing i need is the "you smell like my grampa"-line.

:velva2:Feels good man.

Way off topic, but bay rum really works for the college girls :ladysman: ...*scratches head*gee, i wonder why :a54: :a17:

Nice Fella's! what are your thoughts on it?

i just used mine for the first time today. i liked it, it's not phenomenal by any means, and i wouldn't want to use it everyday. but, i'm glad i picked up a bottle. it really reminds me of older folks when i was kid!

I liked the way it feels and smells, but i don't think i'd wear it on a day where i'm planing to leave the house.

I also find that it's not something I'd wear for an evening out or anything, but if I'm around the house I use it (to save my other ***) with nice results and can apply it liberally without feeling like I'm wasting any like I would with more expensive brands. It works well and is something that you almost can't afford to not have in your repertoire.

I've been using the Aqua Velva Ice Sport off and on for weeks now, and I'm rather fond of it. Lately, though, I've been using my CO Bigelow Blue, and have received more than one positive comment on the scent.

I been using the AV and the Bigelow blue also. My wife actually bought the AV for me. She really likes it. No kidding "It makes you smell like a real man" enough said.

AV is a classic. If you are looking for more of a chill, grab some of the Osage Rub!

Havn't tried it, but mennen skin bracer blue is about 2x cooler, stronger scented, but smells a little bit metallic($2.50CAD a bottle). Again, not a scent for a day out, but if its a lazy sunday or i'm working around the house or car, will use either or, though i overal, i prefer av classic.

AV has an old-school scent - I like it and it fades pretty quickly.

For those in Canada, consider picking up a bottle of the Original Sport (the green stuff) - same cooling effect, but a different scent (its got some pine in it) - certainly not Penhaligons, but nice for weekend wear.

In my view, AV represents one of the best splash values out there.

I did like the scent of the green, elements of a really mild polo, but alot softer and smoother if that makes sense. I had no idea it was cooling.

Only thing that bugs me is the shape of the spout, it just dribbles down the side of the bottle, so i've got to cover the hole with a fing, invert, apply and repeat. I do like glass tho, keeps the scent smelling like as and not plastic or urine.

I like AV Classic Blue it feels good without drying out my skin( Skin Bracer and Pinaud Bay Rum dried my face out) smells fine too, good everday generic scent. I did not care for the AV Musk

I bought my first botttle of the Ice Blue AV recently as I see it continually used in the SOTD's. I figured there must be good reason it is so popular there.

I found that I really like how it feels on the skin. The scent is classic, though I wouldn't wear it out on a Friday night.:001_smile

A few months ago I bought the AV Musk, and have to say that I really like the scent.

Cheers, Jerry
