What's new

Firesign Theatre Fans?

Any fans here of the Firesign Theatre comedy troupe? I was turned on to them in high school <1972> and have loved them since. You could listen to an album 30 times and the 31st you would hear something new.

Nick: Why that tarnished piece of tin is worthless!

Rocky: Worthless? <laughs - coughs> Not to Melanie Haber.

Nick: Melanie Haber?

Rocky: You may remember her as Audrey Farber?

Nick: Audrey Farber?

Rocky: Susan Underhill?

Nick: Susan Underhill?

Rocky: How about Betty Jo Bialowsky!

Nick: <thinking> Betty Jo Bialowsky! I hadn't heard that name since college. Every one knew her as Nancy!

They are very funny. I think they were recently (last couple of years) doing shows on TV and live. I do not remeber where.
Their albums are classic.

I believe that is Cheech and Chong (unless there is a Firesign 'Dave's not here', too).

I think we're all bozos on this bus . . . . .

I guess I'd better go listen to them... ALL!

Ah yes, Firesign Theater, a nice sized chunk of my college years.

Bear Whiz Beer
Beat the Reaper!
High School Madness! w/Porgie Tirebiter ("He's so good with the servants.")

and, of course,

Nick Danger, Third Eye
"I've been to ancient Greece! Look at this grape!"
"Look at this picture. It's isn't us . . it's an interesting approach, but it isn't us."

You hear something new every stinkin' time. I love them.

Now it's time to have a warm, heaping bowlful of Loostner's Castor Oil Flakes.

Late-'60s HS grad, here... couldn't have finished HS without these guys... waitaminute... I didn't finish HS!! OK... did summer school, and got my diploma just in-time to do Woodstock.

Their first three albums are my favorites... probably because I enlisted, and from that point on, was fed a steady diet of C&W.

Classic Firesign Theatre?
  • Pyramid Patchouli: "There was only one guy in LA sensitive enough to wear that scent, and I had to find out who he was!" (Rocky Rococco, at your cervix)
I still listen to 'em... but without any "wine-soaked and sugar-cured" assistance.
