Fine scratches

So in a display of legendary stupidity by me, I decided to clean the head of my razor (DE86) using the rough side of a sponge. Now the top of the head has a lot of very fine scratches. It's not all THAT noticeable, but it's such a lovely razor and now it's not blindingly shiny

Is there any way to get rid of the scratches or would I have to get it replated (in which case I might as well buy a new one)?

I think a fine grit metal polish like Flitz or Maas combined with a microfiber or terry cloth will take them out. It works on all but the deepest on vintage razors! Good Luck!!
