What's new

Finally wore my Bowler

Finally had a a chance to wear my bowler I bought back in the summer.

It was a night of dice rollin' with my friends but marked the hat's maiden voyage. I dig wearing it.

I wear a Stetson Bowler when I sit in the East at lodge and a Scala Fedora most days at work. Real men wear hats. Lookin' good btw....which brand did you pick up?

Thanks men :)
I was very impressed with the comfort of the bowler, I wear a flat cap at work and a normally a fedora for other occasions but I believe this hat will be takin' a little time from my fedora's.

It's just a Scala bowler which is all I could find locally , but I think it looks pretty neat.

Cheers to anyone with the courage to wear a real man's hat. I favor fedoras, panamas, flat caps and the assorted cold weather gear but any return to the classic age of masculine elegance should be encouraged!

It's funny, I'm a fedora guy almost every day of the year, felt or straw, rain or shine, and I'd feel self conscience without a hat now...but I'm pretty certain I couldn't pull off a bowler. I'd look like Stan Laurel. On you, it looks great, but on me, I'm afraid not so much.

Hats are YMMV, too!

Wore the bowler to dinner tonight and it got alot of compliments :)
Don't worry I took the hat off in the place and was wearing it here just for the photo.

Looks good!

Say, aren't you the guy that said you couldn't pull off anything but a flat cap?

Congrats to the move up, you look sharp!

Nice, but I can't help but think your first time wearing that hat should have been when you and your buddies went bowling.

Or to the Milk Bar.
I still say that Malcolm McDowell is one of those guys that could wear just about any hat and look good in it.

I am moving into classic mens hatwear now that I have reached my 45 year.

Is this b/c you just now care to wear these hats or b/c you are now old enough to wear one? I ask b/c my wife often tells me that certain clothes and hats will look good on me in about 15 years. (I am 36).

That's just a SWMBO way of getting you not to wear what she doesn't want you to wear, but getting you to go along with it in the hopes that in the distant future, you will be allowed to wear it.
Classic cuts and classic styles always look good, regardless of age.
Conversely, parachute pants and neon sneakers look stupid no matter what your age is.

For a hat, you must get one that fits your face and head shape, and complements it. Always good to have some second opinions on what style of hat looks good on you.
