Feather AS-D2

Hi all. I'm thinking of upgrading from a DE89. Can anyone who owns a AS-D2 give their opinion on whether its worth the price?

The AS-D2 is milder then your current razor, only you can now if you're willing to pay the price. I've been shaving with one for over 4 months and I'm keeping it for sure.

Instead of giving a whole explanation you might wanna read this (or use the search for more about this razor):

The feather costs six or more times the amount you paid for your razor but don't expect it to shave 6 times better ;-) It is a very good razor, especially for people who have very sensitive skin.

Thank you. I think that answers my question. I dont really want anything milder than my de89. I'll keep looking :)

Its a shame as if nothing else, it does look like an intoxicatingly beautiful piece of kit.

It is a very mild razor. I was able to get a very good shave with it using the Feather blade but it took more effort using the Astra. Almost impossible to but yourself even with pressure.

Don't confuse mild with less effective! It's milder then my EJ86 but it gives wonderful shaves (and I don't have sensitive skin and heavy beard growth, even after a BBS shave 5 hours later you can see my stubble again).

Have you looked into a Weber razor? Not terribly expensive but a fantastic razor in stainless steel. There are lots of other options of course, you'll have to read a lot of reviews to get some idea what might be a good choice for you, success!

I think I'm getting confused with what mild actually means.
My EJ89 good gives a good shave but only after 6+ passes. I have some very random hair patterns. Trouble is EJ gets unforgiving after 4th pass. Looking for a stainless steel razor which will be move forgiving.

I have the DS-2. Upgraded from the DS-1. The DS-2 is more aggressive and smoother than the DS-1 razor. Still less aggressive than the EJ89. I find a single pass with some touch up is plenty good for daily use with the DS-2.

Hiya
Could you give me advice. My growth is not coarse or thick but it is random. Many passes with de89 is giving mild razor burn. Will feather be more forgiving?
Cheers
Luke

I actually gave up my EJ89 for a Feather SS DE and never looked back... excellent shaver. One of the best. Recently upgraded from the D1 to the D2 and have been shaving with both for a few weeks now, one on each side. To be honest I cannot tell the difference, they shave identically.

The Feather will give you a much better shave, closer and with less irritation, hands down.

I understand that your hair grows in random directions but 6+ passes is a whole lot, I think anybody would get irritation after 4 passes with a EJ. Either your technique, preparation or blade might be a bit off. Also this might help to map the growth of your beard: http://www.pbjsite.com/shave/whiskarmap/

After being ripped off with the ASD1, I swore Feather would never get anymore of my money. That thing was so mild, I don't think you could pop a balloon with it. What irked me was, I'd read rave reviews before deciding to get one...so now I no longer trust the reviewers. The best place to get your information are the shave forums, gleaning what the masses feel about what you're researching.
