Feather All Stainless and Blade Longevity

I have had the Feather All Stainless razor since July, and I have an interesting observation about blade longevity in this razor. I consistently get 1 or 2 more shaves from each blade when using them in the Feather AS. Has anyone else observed this with their Feather AS? I am at a loss to understand why this is happening. Anyone have any ideas?

Most likely rare earth magnets are at work here. Possibly hidden in the handle.

Seriously though, are you sure?

It has been pretty consistent with a number of different brands. I have no idea why, but it seems like it is real for me.

Could be that the razor holds the blades such that it makes the blade cut the whisker at a precise angle and what not. That could be the reason why it makes the blades last longer.

I've been getting great shaves from the feather... Today I actually corked a new feather blade as the first one was giving me a harsher shave. Haven't noticed longevity change, will have to see if the corking does here...

Same here. Was quite surprised about it. Probably because it is so smooth (mild ;)) Even a Feather blades last at least 4 shaves for me in this razor.

I am glad someone else has noticed this. I was beginning to think it was all in my imagination.

It could possibly be the fact that it is such a smooth and mild shaver. Even when a blade is getting a little 'iffy' and you would normally have to change it, the razor makes it still feel like its doing its job. I know when I shave with a new feather blade in mine it feels as though I'm not even shaving anything off. After a few shaves I start to 'feel' the blade a little more but its no different than a new crystal in my HD so I just keep on shaving. That could mean its time to change but I can still get a DFS with it so why not keep going until I know the shave will be rubbish?
