What's new

Favorite James Bond movie? Favorite Bond/Bond Girl?

Favorite Bond actor: the early Connery, then Craig, then Dalton

Favorite film: Among the adaptations, From Russia With Love; among the original scripts, Skyfall (possibly the best 2 hours I've ever spent watching any Bond movie)

Favorite villain: Red Grant and Doctor No; and I have a soft spot for Klaus Maria Brandauer's Largo in Never Say Never Again

Favorite Girl: Now we're into a quagmire. As someone said above, "Who can answer that?" From the novels it would have to be Honeychile Rider (Doctor No) and Tatiana Romanova (From Russia). From the films, possibly the same two, with a strong nod to Tracy (Diana Rigg) in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (which film I also enjoy as a good adaptation).

JoBlo Videos on YouTube (with whom I have no association, just personal likes) has an outstanding Bond series reviewing all the movies, including the Casino Royales, NSNA, and now delving into specific elements.

Best Bond Actor, Sean Connery. Pierce Brosnan second favorite.

Best movie, Skyfall, second best Tomorrow Never Dies. Who doesn't like BMW motorcycles?

Best Bond girl? All of them. Shaken, not stirred.

Boring and predictable
Just keep the movies coming - no favorites just more expectations.
I like the opening song in Casino Royale. Cornell just is perfect. Sheena Easton was nice too, Bassey maybe set a high standard.
Maybe best line for me, in Casino Royale when le Chiffre met the guerrilla general and was asked if he believed in god.

My first recollection of the franchise was Thunderball. Mesmerized by the gadgets as a boy and was wowed by the machine gun magic of 007’s DB5. Sean Connery would be my fave but I like what Daniel Craig has done with the character. Although she would be characterized as a villain, Fatima Blush played by Barbara Carrera jumped right out of the screen at me with a hard edged exotic smokiness.

My first was Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, matinee double feature.

Before videotape and DVDs and streaming,
the way it worked was that movies premiered in the expensive theaters
and over the years worked their way into the cheaper theaters.

Sean Connery - Goldfinger

Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Spectre (honorable mention to Jimmy Dean and Bruce Cabot as Mr Kidd and Mr Wint in Diamonds are Forever

Grace Jones as May Day in a View To A Kill

Part of it is my age when I first saw it, part of it is how this movie has grown on me, but I really liked Cary Lowell in Licence to Kill. She kicked butt, she's ultra-attractive, and she refused to be second banana.

Best Bond: Roger Moore, with Pierce Brosnan a close second.
I have given Daniel Craig 4 movies and - though he's the most athletic - he just isn't Bond to me.

Best Movie: Tomorrow Never Dies. Most plausible storyline, best car, best chase scene(s), and the villains get it in the end perfectly.
Runner-up was "The Man With the Golden Gun". Best one-on-one, mano a mano between Bond and his adversary. Plus the car stunt over the bridge was tops.

Best Bond Babe: Barbara Bach and Maude Adams. I can't choose between them. Though Teri Hatcher is astounding on any screen.
