What's new

favorite guitars and style played

I don't play well or frequently but my favorite is my Telecaster as well. I have one with the "ashtray" cover and old fashioned bridge. I also have a Martin mahogany 000 style acoustic and a classical guitar.

That's a really tough question...do we have to pick a favorite?

Les Paul Trad. 2010
Gibson ES-335 w/block inlay
Gretch Chet Atkins 5122
G&L S-500 USA - strat on steroids
Martin GPCPA3

I would have to go with my Larivee neck-through-body, circa 1983. I picked her up in a pawn-shop for $60 to keep around as a 'beater', but after replacing the pickups and pots she simply destroys my SG and Roadstar.

Honourable mention to my Hohner Dreadnought acoustic; wonderfully warm tones, but she is a huge beast to wrap your arms around for more than a few minutes at a time.

I play (thrash) metal, classic rock, and (Texas) blues mostly, although have been known to bust out the occasional country song to appease Mrs. Bitz.

I'm a Fender fanboy to the end. I have two Strats, a 2012 American Standard and a 2007 Mexican Standard. My next guitar is either going to be one of those new surf green American Special Strats or a Daphne/Sonic blue Telecaster.

I primarily play blues and rock. I'm not that great, but I'm good enough to play in a band setting.

I have a custom made tele (neck HB and bridge SC) and a 1980s schecter strat. I started out as a keyboardist in the 80s and I love the older R&B, Funk, Blues, Rock, and Jazz. I have a home studio for composing, arranging and recording. The stuff I've owned, played and sold..... wish I could have some of it back.

hi just wondering what everyones favorite guitars are and what style you play.
i am a TELECASTER man myself.
Pete Townshend is THE MAN when it comes to rhythm guitar, he seems to have went through more (literally) than any other "geet man" I know. From Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, Fenders, Rickenbackers, Scheckters, you name them he's played them.
First saw The Who live at Newcastle Odean, 1973, they were Touring Quadrophenia, they did 3 consecutive nights. Townshend demolished three Les Pauls in total.
Two the first night, One the third night, sadly I was at the SECOND NIGHT. (yes i'm shouting)
They remain to this day (imho) the Greatest Band in the World.
ps. Moons drums didn't survive either, class.

I play and teach guitar and bass for a living , here is my line up. I am primarily a jazz and rock guy , but also do some classical and also play in Orchestra pits for shows.
1969 Gibson L5
1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom
1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard
1984 Gibson ES 335
2000 Gibson ES 335
Hofner Classical Guitar
Martin D 16 Flat Top
G and L 5 string fretless bass
1910 Martin Mandolin
Deering 4 string banjo

Hmmm, I have several, but mostly play an 8-year old Martin DCX1E, it's not expensive for a Martin, but I like the way it sounds through a sound system. I also have a Takamine 12-string acoustic electric, an early '90's American Standard Strat, and older Yamaha acoustic 12-string, an even older classical guitar, and a 50's or 60's vintage Airline electric.

I play in our church praise team, and we play contemporary christian music, a lot of Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, etc., which is a style sort of like acoustic folk-rock.

I love teles, and I have a kind of tele knockoff (jackson JTX)
I gotta admit though playing a nice les paul is pure butter.

Martin and Taylor acoustics are stuff of my dreams though.

I don't play much these days, I used to play a mix of blues and 90's acoustic ballads
Still get my cheap Jasmine Acoustic out frequently just to play around.
These days I play harmonica a bit more, much easier to carry and cheaper too!

This one is my my all time favorite. 1920's Gibson Lloyd Loar L-5.

Don't play as much as I used to but I had a sunburst Fender American with a maple neck and Fender Texas Specials pickups. I play mostly alternative rock in the style of Ira Kaplan , The Edge, Kevin Shields, Shoegazer type music.

As far as Acoustics, I like Martin D15 acoustics and my beaten up Fender.

here's my arch top acoustic (it needs some TLC, one of these days...) Pretty old, got it from my gpa who says it was old when he got it in the 50s. Not sure if that's true or not but not much information out there. body's in fairly good shape but it needs a new neck :(

I've been playing more lately, after falling out a little bit after college. I've got two electric guitars. One is black mexi-Strat, I call her Hayley. And the other is a Gibson Les Paul, with a custom paint job that, in proper lighting, is a very deep green-to-black burst, with white trim accents, and I call her Gloria Mae. I'm a blues man, but I make the argument that Mark Knopfler is the greatest guitarist who has ever lived. It's good to know there are guitarists here, keep it up.

I haven't played lead on stage since I took up bass over 30 years ago . . . but I did pick up a Telecaster Tex-Mex Special a few years ago just because I wanted it!! I love the range of tones I can get out of it, but my chops are way too rusty to ever gig lead without serious practice time!

After I was sure my switch to bass was "permanent," I picked up a 1979 Fender Precision Standard. Just got home from a gig a few minutes ago, and she still plays like a dream!

I've also got an Ovation Celebrity for "fun and strum" time . . .

I don't play guitar. I've always intended to learn, but never got around to it. But I do have a few guitars.

My parents got me this Abilene in high school. A couple years ago I traded it to my sister's boyfriend for a gun, so he could teach her to play. Then they broke up, so I traded the gun back to him.

When I got my taxes back last year, I bought this Mitchell. I wanted something a little smaller than the Abilene, and I liked the sunburst.

I also picked up this Telecaster last year. I wanted an electric, figured a Tele was a good place to start, and this one was on sale.
