Favorite Car Air Freshener

As connoisseurs of fine fragrances, what do you guys think about car air fresheners? I have been on a lifelong quest to find a good one, but most seem to have a cheap, tacky scent. Who wants their car to smell like a public restroom?

When I was in Japan last summer, I bought a couple that were supposed to be designer fragrance knockoffs--Polo Black, etc. Unfortunately, the container wasn't well made and they weren't really very good.

My car is clean--there aren't any smells of old dog, sick child or dead deer that need to be covered up. Just thought it might be interesting to see if there's something subtle but nice available.

Anybody have any suggestions? There's got to be something out there better than Fabreeze or the little trees wrapped in plastic.

I too have tried may air fresheners and most are too potent/strong or sickly sweet for my taste. I have a dog who travels with us a lot of the time so I clean and vacuum often. The one thing I've found that works for me is the Febreze Auto if I apply it sparsely from time to time.

I do not like car air fresheners. Whan I go to a full-service car wash and they ask, "What air freshener scent?", I reply, "None, please."

Personally I like the car air fresheners from Yankee Candle. They are good solid scents and they don't smell "cheap". This one is my favorite.

I also like the gel fresheners from Bath & Body works. This one is my favorite of these.

Both of them are pretty long lasting, although the B&BW one has a subtler longer lasting scent.

I do my best to avoid knock off scents and pine trees, although I don't mind the coconut pine tree one.

As goofy as they are, I use the pine tree air fresheners. I found one that is called "leather" that I really like. I dont think it smells much like leather, but I do like the smell of it.

+1 ...I prefer the original pine (green) scent. My wife prefers the black one, not sure of the exact name of the scent.

Maybe sprinkle some Florida Water on the ol' floor mats?

It's called "Top down, main drag Friday night." It has a heavy, earthy body of fresh air with undertones of exhaust (running a little fat) and scorched rubber.

I love it.

I discovered it the first time I drove a Mustang.

My Bronco has something like it but with a little pine mixed in.
