What's new

favorite AVAILABLE modestly-priced 'fruity' sheng ??

Greetings -

I'm looking to up my stock.

By modestly priced, I mean about 10¢/g (so it costs less than 75¢ to load up a 3-4 oz. yi-xing).
So that'd be $10 for a 100g beeng, $40 for a 400g beeng, $36 for a 357g beeng, etc.

By fruity, I mean that my taste runs towards cider than mushroom. Fer instance, I'm really fond of that 2007 Bulang Arbor brick (which sold out en masse as a result of forum members )

Recommendations welcome.

Thanks.

- Richard
(I'm gonna go boil some water now.)

Get thee some 2008 Dehong Purple Brick from YSLLC.

You read my mind.

This stuff is very good for the price and is one of my staples for the office - nice lively flavours, very forgiving of different brewing techniques and leaf:water rations.

Get thee some and thank us later!

Well, that was quick!!

Me likey. Thanks for the recommendation.

Nice score Richard, tell us about the pot please.
Yixing, $30 or thereabouts from enjoyingtea.com, I believe. They no longer appear to have it.
400ml or so. Walls aren't so thin that I worry about breaking it, nor are they stupid thick.
Did manage to chip the lid, tho'. :frown:

Pours slow. 20-30 seconds to empty the full beast -- have to take that into account when steeping.

I also have this one, which is nice, but a beyotch to clean.

Good work with the Dehong brick! I'm getting thirsty for some myself.

Toodlepip,

Hobbes

P.s. 400ml?! You could brew for a room-full of people with that :)
