(Faux) Vintage Williams!

I will be eager to read your thoughts on this one. She was working on a Faux version of MdC which she hoped to have ready by the end of Feb 2013. Her version was going to be called DdC I think.

I just got mine, I haven't had a chance to rotate it in yet. It has been highly praised in some of the Vintage williams threads, overall I know Krissy's products are highly praised.

I find PC's soap quality up there with Mike's. She was really the first artisan to start producing the tallow based soaps and really did master the art. Yes there was some negative reviews when she was experimenting with her formula but once she got it down it was gold. There were some negative aspects I guess(shipping before fully curing) which didnt really affect the soap efficacy. I think all the negativity with Krissy(not her soaps) is when she couldnt meet the initial demand, and totally failed as a vendor to rectify the issue. Just apologizing instead of coming up with countless and outrageous excuses on how she was being wrongfully accused. Blah blah blah. She F%#@! up and lost her foot hold as a reputable vendor. Hence being banned, not welcomed, etc at quite a few forums.

Does she need help in running a soap business? Yes. Does she have way more personal issues than the common person? Yes. Should she possible sell her business to another up and coming soap artisan? Maybe. Does she currently make an amazing shave soap? Absolutely.

Hate to vent but she has been wearing the Scarlett letter ever since being banned and I dont find it fair to people to judge her products because she isnt a vendor on B&B.

Off the soap box:)

And no I will not be buying anymore PC soaps as other please me much more at the same price. I have 2 and will enjoy using them till they die.

:crying: boy I did not know this was a can of worms, sorry, I'm still a newb.

I still think the idea of an ARTisan recreating a classic soap is pretty darn cool.

No need to apologize, you and many others had no idea and won't until they read the post above explaining (some I knew, much I did not).

it is cool that some soap makers are bringing back some classic, old school scents.

I choose not to buy because of the reasons you listed as well as the sub par reviews I have read on here. Vendor badge or not, I won't buy a product if I think it sucks or the person has shady past dealings or has a sketchy history on forums like this or the way they ran their business. Many of my favourite soaps are from Non-Vendors....MdC, DR Harris, PdP to name a few, so don't make it out to be a "vendor" or "hobbiest" contribution issue, it's far from it. I do support many Hobbiest & Vendors as well, Mystic Water and QCS come to mind and will continue to do so.

There is a big difference between a Soap Maker and Artisan. In my mind, an artisan is someone who is professional, courteous and police as well as making a top tier handmade product (soap in this case). B&B is full of them, there are many not on B&B and I'll continue to support all of them....PC is not on that list.

A lavendar scented Walters (faux Williams) puck arrived yesterday and I really like it.

I grated the puck to fit my mug, and bowl lathered using Marco's method (my first time using Marco's method) with an Omega Pro 49 boar brush. Not quite as slick as modern Williams (maybe my lathering technique still needs work) but I had gobs of cushiony, protective lather with staying power. 3 pass w/ touchup BBS using a Merkur 34c, Sharp Stainless (4), no nicks, cuts, or weepers. The soap is not drying. Finished with classic AV and I'm left with a nice soft clean face.

To be fair, I'm a greenhorn and I have only tried Walters, modern Williams, VDH Deluxe, and Arko. Walters is the best one so far, IMHO it leaves VDH and Arko in the dust and is better than modern Williams. I have some Mike's samples I have yet to try and I'm curious how Mike's highly regarded soaps compare to Walters.

Oh, i love that book! I agree, she's often portrayed as a regular Hester Prynne. A lot of unneeded controversy, IMO.

Does this make me a little Pearl??
