Fat Handle Tech Question

Hi. I purchased a Gillette Tech this past weekend from an antique store. It has a fat handle and no date code (that I can find). If I am reading the wiki date chart info correctly the absence of a date code indicates this was made between 1938 and 1949.

Can anyone confirm that I have read the wiki date info correctly AND provide information as to "the why" behind the various Tech handles?
