Falcon pipes

Anyone use one? Been thinking about trying the '2010 Pipe of the Year' one. Aluminium looks like an interesting material, and the design certainly seems logical.

While we're asking questions, is there any usage difference to straight/bent? I've been using bent pipes so far, and of course one can't readily try one out before buying! Thought I might buy the straight one, and if I don't like it, a bent stem isn't a large cost to allow me to use the bowls...

Yes and I like it. I have mostly straight pipes, but I never hold a pipe in my teeth. As with cigars, the instrument is in my hands between puffs. I've heard this is actually better for you- "don't chew a cigar or clench a pipe."

Didn't know Falcon had made pipes of the year! Must look that up.

I have a couple of Falcon straight stems and several bowls and they are an excellent smoke. I often smoke them in preference to my "better" briars as they smoke so well. Almost indestructable too. Very easy to clean and simple rotation too, if you end up with a few extra bowls.

I did have the bent Falcon years ago too but never really got on with the shape. My preference is the 1/8th or 1/4 bent pipes normally but the straight Falcon suits me just fine.

I have a bent Falcon International, this model is more like a conventional pipe, the bit is removable and it accepts a filter if so desired, but they all smoke great.

I have bent and straights and like both equally. The International that is about a half bent is great for driving.

Well, the wife decided she hated the look of them (she offered to buy me some stuff for my birthday...) so I ended up ordering a couple of the 'b-line' pipes (and a pile of tobaccos....)

I've ordered :

Reviews generally seem pretty positive, and the customer service reviews seem 100% positive.

Roll on delivery!!

I still like the look of the falcon. I'll wait until I've obtained a few more, and then slip one in..... :)

Got the box through this morning.... The bulldog's great (tried it out with some Peterson Christmas 2011 - a very pleasant hour....)

Not so sure about the other - the draft hole is very high up inside the mortise - nowhere near centered, and it feels like the hole is quite high up where it enters the bore (although the base is quite rounded, and running a pipe cleaner into the bowl, it pretty much scrapes along the side until it reaches the lowest part of the bowl. I've called a couple of times for some advice, but couldn't get an answer (maybe they're very busy after the long break....) but what do you reckon? Fire it up?

I remember my father had a Falcon, and I have several straight stem ones. But I rarely smoke anything anymore so they see little use.
