So I recently ordered a FaTip, and purchased a 37C from a member here on B&B. Realizing after 5 days that these razors won't be here until next week, I soon realized that the 5 days of growth I was sporting was going to be short lived.
You see, I can grow facial hair. In fact, my hair stylist asked me today if I was on a shaving holiday (She knows about my affection for classic shaving.)
When I told her that this was only 5 days of not shaving, her jaw dropped. Now, I don't have a Santa beard or anything, but it looks like my cheeks and neck were colored in a brown marker. The part that kills me is the neck hair....SO ITCHY. So, after my haircut, I had decided to break down and shave.
So, the Slant was out with a Personna Med Prep...but the dilemma set in. Do I use a cream or a soap? Why not both? I've never uberlathered before, so today seemed just as good of a day as any.
I hit the shower, washed up with some L'Oreal men's magnetic charcoal face wash. (if you have not tried this, I highly recommend....Walmart....$9.)
Anyhow, washed up, slapped on some proraso pre/post....hair wash...yadda yadda...shave time.
I had soaked the MWF puck during my shower and loaded for 30 seconds. Then, I added an almond size portion of Proraso (old formula) into my DB, and let the mixing begin.
For the first bit, the lather seemed underwhelming, until it suddenly exploded. I kid you not, this stuff was flying out of the bowl and onto the walls.
I did a 3 pass WTG, ATG, XTG and let me tell you...I did not feel one hair tug on my face. It looked like when I ran the razor across my face, the whiskers had melted off. It wasn't until the 2nd and 3rd pass that I actually heard some feedback.
Anyhow, cut to the end....during my clean up I squeezed the lather out of the brush, and smeared it all over my face. I let it sit there while I policed the den and tidied up. Warm water rinse, cold water rinse and finally some Proraso AS splash (old formula.)
No nicks, cuts, weepers, slices, gashes, decapitations....I think the key here was attention to the prep.
Just a wonderful shave.
Try this out if you can and post your comments. I assure you that you will be very pleased.
