Before DE shaving I used to face lather. However since starting DE and working on getting better shaves, I lather in a bowl. I find it easier to create good lather for the 3-4 passes I make. :w00t:

I do both. I usually use a bowl but when I use a soap, I find it easier to face lather.

Face lather. I get great shaves with my current routine, I can't see that all the extra mess would be worth the effort for me.

Face.

When I started last fall I bought three different bowls in the hunt for the perfect one. I finally figured out it was just an extra complication that didn't do anything for me.

The bowl was one more thing to clean up at the end. The brush handle banged around inside the bowl. Half the lather ended up in the bowl instead of on my face.

With face lathering, by the time I have a good lather it is already on my face! Face lathering is faster, maybe because of the larger surface area of my face as compared to the bowl. Face lathering feels good.

I bowl lather because I find it easier to get the water/cream water/soap ratio just right. I face lather more with my soaps, but I still do more bowl lathering overall.

I moved from the bowl to the face a month ago to see if it would produce a better result .. the jury is still out, but I believe they b leaning towards the face .. I use soap & a couple days a week Super Lathers

I bowl lather because it is an excuse for more gear.

But seriously, I get more consistent results from the bowl. Must be the wrist.

Face lather. It saves a step, saves on pottery and seems to work better and faster for me. I find it easier to keep track of the lather consistency on my face than in the bowl.

Both (no vote here). I get excellent shaves with both methods, but I think I'm starting to lean toward face lathering. I've been enjoying using soaps and sticks for a month or two now, and I love the feel of my soft, but sturdy boar brush.

When I want to use a cream and my big, floppy badger, I usually build the lather in a bowl. That way I can tinker, if necessary, to get just the right ratio for beautiful lather.

Both. My skin's pretty sensitive and I don't think it'd like me very much if I face lathered every day. Plus I get better aroma out of a bowl.
