Etsy scuttles

I've been looking at scuttles and it looks like i'm not the only one. I've looked at DB and Georgetown G20s. Does anyone have any experience with any of the
Etsy stores?

I own the G20 and can say that it is a quality scuttle and is very well made. It is fairly large and heavy, so keep that in mind. It retains heat fairly well, however I don't have anything to compare it to. I just ordered a Robert Becker travel scuttle, which is very different from the G20, however I wanted try something different. There was a fairly long wait time for the G20 (approx. 1 month). From what I hear, the G20 is the way to go, and the G5 doesn't retain heat well. I also like the rubber plug that seals the water reservoir.

I thnk the wait for some of the Etsy scuttles are about that long. I think the Dirty Birds are more my style....not to take away from the G5/G20.....they are very nice..almost too nice!..lol.

When searching for anything don't forget Etsy. I have got a few good razors by searching Etsy. My latest find was this scuttle.

I like those! The ones with an attached cup to hold the brush is interesting. Good price point too....thanks for the link. I'll be sure to consider these.

My wife ordered some stuff from etsy last year, she had no problems.

they have some awesome old spice mugs/scuttles.

I've had a few scuttles and my absolutely favorite is the Georgetown G5. Some say it doesn't retain heat so well because it is so thick and heavy that it absorbs the heat first. The clay is fired to produce porcelain not just clay pottery. I use boiling water in the interior space with hot water in the inner bowl to soak my brush. The nice thing about the Georgetown is it allows you to empty the bowl without losing any interior water because of the stopper. It's perfect because the heat retention allows for an extended (3-4 passes) shave. My brush is always very warm when the lather is reapplied. The DB is hand made while the Georgetown is cast. The glazing on the Georgetown is very beautiful.

Good stuff in this thread. I'm narrowing my search some. I like both the DB 1.5 and the G20. I can't help but to be curious about some of those I see (handmade) listed on Etsy. If anyone has any first hand experience with any of these, it would be nice to know.
