I am restoring a W&B straight that has etched writing on one side of the blade. Can I buff out the blade without damaging or removing the etching? I'm using white, then green abrasive on a sewn cotton wheel. Thank you.
I've seen that etching on razors and I'm curious too. It is a frosted etching not an engraving to the best of my knowledge. I have a similar frosted etching on my Wostenholm that I am going to restore and would like some more information on this too.

Yes, that is what mine looks like. I did a google search on the buffing question, and the consensus out there is to use Maas or Flitz on it just to be on the safe side. Sounds like aggressive sanding/buffing can remove it or decrease its appearance. Not worth the risk.
I don't know how to post a pic, but I found this link to one that represents a pic of the etching. This in not my razor. I used Flitz on mine, and there is no need to buff it. Came out real nice.
