English Leather

I picked up some English Leather today... Thanks to fellow B&B folks on Facebook! ;)

So any comments about this classic scent? I splashed some on today after washing my face... so its not a totally legit comparison yet...

But Im curious, any comments on this scent??

Im not quite sure yet.

old Dana English Leather classic is what my dad wore exclusively in the 70s/80s

so I've stockpiled quite a bit of the Dana production, as I grew up loving it and it reminds me of my dad whenever I splash it on!

use it at least once a week.

Hmm, just put some on after an evening shave.... As I was sniffing it, it struck me that it smells VERY similar to something else in the den...

Sure enough, it smells like a more mild and slightly less "flowery" Pinaud Special Reserve.

Anyone else smell the similarity?

I used the original scent years ago, but when I ran out, it wasn't a favorite, so I never rushed to replace it; and then I stopped seeing it with the shaving supplies, and just didn't find it with the womens' scents until recently. It now doesn't seem to smell the same as it did then. I used soap and water to wash it back off again. I'm not certain what smelled so wrong about it, but it really wasn't close to being "right".

I haven't used the newer scent/formula, nor Pinaud Special Reserve for that matter, but I was told that it's no longer close to the vintage scent :(

I'm not saying it was a favorite, but I liked it some. The new stuff, so far, I don't like it at all. It's in a dark bronze colored package from "Dana", and says it was "packaged in China".

I'm going to put a few drops into a teaspoon or so of Witch Hazel to dilute the stuff. It seemed extremely strong (and Pinaud's Virgin Island Bay Rum is somewhat that way, but I can mix a little in the palm of my hand to reduce the first overly strong hit).
