English gillette date codes

Is there a source for decoding English made gillette date codes? Just picked up a g1000 with an O date code, and curious as to the date

If it's the very late model G1000 like the one below, then the O is more likely 1994. The Brits didn't start using the date letter-number codes until very late in their production, but when they did they were in line with the US numbers as far as we know.

That would be the one I bought can't believe anybody ever bought it though, handle has no weight, terrible balance, but it was a dollar, so I bought it

This looks like the right place for me, but how about old (NEW) English codes?

For example: 352975-6 363892 (photo below)

Any idea on what Made in English model this is?
The best I can place it is that it is a NEW with a Tech handle. But I don't need date codes to tell me that.

Those are patent numbers; the first is a range that refers to GB352975 and GB352976, and the second is GB363892. Some models also include GB352977 in that first range, inscribed as "352975'6'7" when it is.

Well, you might not be able to tell much more than that for certain. I can't be sure from the pictures, but it looks like it might be the thinner version of the Tech handle. I've generally seen these in the Bakelite cases, both the larger "standard-set-sized" one, like the No. 77 set of Achim's below, and the slimmer "pocket-edition-sized" one of the No. 44 set. The case you've got in the background looks more like the lined metal case, perhaps like the one from the No. 88 set, but I can't say that I've ever seen a Tech-handled NEW in that case before.

Thanks a lot for that information. Those are some really interesting links about the patents. I'm in awe.

You're right about the case. It is silver on the outside and, like the UK 88s, doesn't have the diamond logo on the inside, only a big fat "Gillette" logo. By the way, I bought this from a someone living in the UK.

Here are a few more pictures of the razor & case. Do you think this is a thin handle Tech?

And the beautiful case. I love that Gillette logo:

And, an odd thing for me was the way the patent numbers are written in a double row (c.f., post #5), one above the other (unlike the No77). Achim has a similar example, although it is a Milday Decollettee:

I agree, i have educated myself through many of Macdaddy's links and various posts. He and many other B&B members are very educated on Gillette razor history. You will be in awe as you read further along in B&B.
