EJ De89lbl razor a comin'

Well, I have an ej89lbl coming. I've read so much about the de89 that I had to jump on one used, but described as "Excellent Condition. Like New, Item " . I can't wait, but it will take a little while since it will have to be forwarded to me via my mail forwarding service.

It's a fantastic razor.
The only thing that would worry me a little bit in the photo is the bottom-right corner of the base plate where you see some orange-discoloration.
That's exactly what my faulty baseplate looked like after one shave and it turned out that the baseplate had a bad plating job and soon a lot more of the chrome came off.

Note: Maybe it's a reflection of something though and not an area of chrome loss.

IF it is...do know that you can contact Edwin Jagger in the UK. Send them some photos of the plate and they will offer to send you a replacement baseplate free of charge (no need to send in yours if you send some photos).

Thanks guys.

I THINK it's a reflection, the handle seems to be reflecting the same thing, but I'll see when it gets here.

I've been using this a couple of weeks and the shaves seem to be just getting better every day. This may be the last razor (brand) I ever need. Note I said need.

I love my Edwin Jagger DE89. It was my first razor and still my daily driver. I threw an Ikon Bulldog II handle on mine which made it perfect. You'll get a lot of great shaves from that beauty Grats

Glad you're enjoying it. Did that discoloration happen to be a reflection?

I have the smooth handled version, great razor.

I absolutely love mine. Every day, it grows on me more.

I once assumed I would acquire razor after razor. But I'm beginning to wonder if I bought the best razor for me first.

Yes, it's beautiful.

I plan on getting either an ikon or weber bulldog in the future.

I REALLY can't stress how much I like it and how it keeps getting better, I think the beard adjusts to it more.

I recently purchased an EJ DE89lbl and used it for my last shave. What a great razor and the finish is fantastic! But the feather blade I used is deadly!

LOVE mine - I rotate between it and the Slim Adjustable I acquired...don't worry about any negative comments about the razor being slippery, it is stunning in the degree of coating it has...gleams like a mirror!

I just got mine yesterday and had my first DE shave with it today. My technique is sloppy at this point so I can't comment about how it works but it sure is beautiful and has some nice heft as well.

I also recently purchased an EJ DE86 with the black handle, I think they all have the same head? I'm going to pair it up with a Weber handle.

The stock EJ handle I'll use on my travel Tech.

I think they are all the same head and I too want either a weber or ikon (whichever is cheaper as they look the same) as I mentioned above. Nice heft now, but I think one of those would be better. I majust get a weber bulldog razor later on and use the handle for whichever I am using.

I have a cheap sodial chinese handle on my travel tech right now and although it's cheap it's solid and has weight to it. It's heavier than my ball end tech handle.

Edit: I lied, it's not solid. It's heavier and longer than the ball tech and I thought with the heft it was solid, but there is space in there coming down from the screw end. Some lead pellets epoxied in would be nice, but I would rather just use a weber or ikon handle,;)
