I've had two EJ Super Badger and am thinking of going with something like a 177 from Shavemac in Silvertip. With anyone with experience with the two brushes, what could I come to expect in differences in all the major aspects (Softness of tips, backbone, density etc...)

You'll get much more backbone and density with the Shavemac. I'd recommend going with Shavemac Finest, and make sure it has a loft of about 50mm, especially if you face lather or use soaps a lot. Their finest is a grade of silvertip. I'd talk to a few vendors and see what they have, regarding loft. For some reason, I'm thinking that westcoastshaving.com used to have 50mm loft Shavemacs.
