eBay WIN!

I probably overpaid but I just scored a no date code Super Speed in the original box with instructions and NOS blades for $30 all in. :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Stoked!

Not if you're happy.
If every time you look at it and shake your head saying "man... I overpaid for this" then yeah... you probably did.

Enjoy it. That's the most important thing.

Actually "I" don't feel like I overpaid but since this is my first one, I have nothing really to compare it against and figured someone would say "too high". I feel pretty good about the price, honestly. Plus. it seems that the no date code razors in the blue box are more rare than the 48/49 in the red box. BUT, I'm going to get one of those, too!

And here's the link to the completed auction.

I'd love to get some feedback!

I don't know if I would say that is a bad buy. The razor looks to be in great shape, the case in good shape and those instructions look mint. I mean a decent NDC SS on BST goes for $15 or so. I'd say what you got is worth an extra $15.

Very nice razor and I don't think you overpaid. I have ten razors and my NDC '40s Superspeed gets used more than any of them (even more than my more expensive Slim, Diplomat and HD Rocket). If you consider that it would cost you more to buy almost any new razor (even most Parkers), it is easy to see that you've got your money's worth. These are an ideal first razor as they are easy to use and give a comfortable shave without the "bite" of some other razors. But it isn't one to learn with and then discard. I reach for it often because it gives me a BBS without having to be careful with my every stroke. I doubt you will look back on this purchase with any regrets.

You might have found one for less, but not much cheaper. The case looks pretty nice and the NOS blade pack and instruction inserts are pretty sweet.

$30 really isn't that much for something that you can use everyday for many years to come. I love a deal as much as the next guy, but if I see something I'm looking for at a fair price, I'm not worrying about saving $3-$4 dollars.

Looks like a nice razor and I'm sure you'll enjoy using it!

Nice razor plus extras. The price seems good to me for an ebay purchase. I actually paid more for my ndc SS two yrs ago on ebay....but that's my problem! Hope you enjoy it for many years.

Even if you did overpay on this razor, how much are you really out? Five dollars? That's nothing really, so enjoy it. :thumbup1:

$30 is alright, a good razor is worth that alone. I paid a bit more for one in the correct case, with the proper blades and instructions.
The case you have is the later 50s style, 1949 SS had a completely different shape and were always red. I haven't seen those blades (if it was notched, like the late 40 and onwards, all blades were in the hard shell dispenser cases, thats why the razors were notched),and my instruction sheet is totally different. Looks like you got a blue tip case and instructions to me and some random blades.
But mine cost more like $35-40 anyway.
Not raining on your parade, you got a good case that you could use in your collection later if you find the right razor as a bonus, and you got a good razor for a fair price anyway.

and here is the set with the blue instruction:

I think you'll enjoy the heck out of that razor. I found a 51 at an antique mall over the weekend.

The condition isn't as nice as yours but it shaves quite well.
