Ebay Scuttle..Thumbs Up

An eBay seller of ceramics has come out with a new medium sized scuttle that works quite well. His eBay store is: Robert's Ceramic Feats of Clay.

I have bought a few different scuttles of various sizes and finishes from him and will say he is a pleasure to deal with. I have one of his Large scuttles, and it works very well, but it is rather large. He also had small scuttles which I thought were OK, but the bowl was too deep and narrow for my tastes. Well, he now has a medium sized scuttle with a well shaped bowl and I think it is a winner! This is not a proper review, hence the lack of measurements etc. As of this post, he is only showing one large scuttle on his eBay store, but having had communication with him earlier I believe he is going to focus more on this medium sized one now. I used it once, last night and have since sent it to my son for him to use.

I don't know how it rates to the DirtyBird or the Georgetown as I have not used either of those standards. I can only say that Robert's works very well for me, looks good and is priced well. If you contact him, ask when he will be posting the medium sized ones...I think you will be quite satisfied with them.

Again, this obviously is not a proper review, just my experience. And once more, Robert could not be any nicer or easier to deal with...a real pleasure.

I bought one from Robert and it does exactly what is says its supposed to do.

He uses molds to keep the prices down. Its a good scutlle

They certainly do work as designed. Also quite a bargain. Robert said he had a few he would be firing today and that he was going to work primarily on this new medium size! This really is a great value in a scuttle guys!! The new glaze colors/finishes are very nice as well!! Mine are sort of a sandstone.

I bought one of the new versions and i like it. I think he said it was the new large version, it is a little smaller than the old large one. Guess that would make it a medium

He is a really cool guy, shipping was super fast. I think i paid $32 shipped which is the going price for the new style large scuttle. He was just about to start making the new scuttles so I got a chance to pick my colors, black outside with a burnt orange lather bowl.

Anyhow, 2 thumbs up from me also

+2 or 3 or 4

I too bought one of the new models and after using it twice I know I will have a long-term relationship! ) Having an interest in astronomy, I really like the the black star-looking finish and the $29 invested makes it a winner for me. Haven't used any other scuttle but compared to my double stacked bowls, this is a winner, hands down!!

This is exactly why I stopped visiting this forum frequently. Because then I see all sorts of goodies that I don't have the money for! Be great if someone could post a review with pics.

Well the prices at least seem like a great value. I'll keep this is mind next time I feel like skipping a few meals :p Thanks for the heads up

I've been checking those out too....

I keep waiting for a color scheme that I like. I guess I'll contact him and get a custom job done.

I didn't realize he makes different sizes. Bought this one today ~~~ Large Lagoon Blue Ceramic Shaving Scuttle ~~` $23 + 10 for shipping. How much are the medium and the small size scuttles?

Edit: Dimensions: Outside bowl is 6" diameter by 4" deep. The top bowl 5" diameter by 3" deep

Is this the old old or the new old?

You must have bought the last one. I didn't see any scuttles on his store just now when I checked. I've added his store to my favorites, and signed up for his email list. That is a great value on a hand made scuttle.

I'got one of his large & small scuttles. Like them both with the only exception being that the bowl on the small scuttl is so deep that I have a difficult time reaching the bottom with the short brush
I'm using (can any one say longer handled brush?). Back to point though, they both do the job so I recommend the seller.
