What's new

Early Stage S1C1 virus *cough*

Since SWMBO asserted that Trumper's Violet smells like "old lady," I used that as a tacit approval of my finding some scents that do not smell like said spinster. It's in the subtext.

So I now have, winging its way across the country (or Big Browning it, to be exact) from MiN New York (I had a coupon):

1 Tub of Taylor's lavender
1 Tube of Taylor's St. James

See, my lady likes lavender. Gotta know your audience.

Oh, and I'm coining S1C1 to be the scientific name for SCAD.

If your old lady didn't like the Trumps violet, what makes you think she'll like the Taylors? Funny thing is that most people think sandalwood smells manly, but I thought the Trumps sandalwood smelled like my grandmother, and that the violet was really nice ... Classic YMMV I guess.

St. James is about as manly as you can get, along with Mr. Taylor and Jermyn Street. But the St. James is also mighty strong in the fragrance dept.

My wife wasn't too taken with the Violets either...and truth be told, neither was I really. Sold it off and got me some manly stuff...

Well, lavender is maybe less of an old-lady scent than violet? I dunno - she may hate it. In which case, aw shucks, I'll have to just find a better-smelling cream for her.

As for the St. James, I'm a little nervous as to SWMBO's reaction. Yes, I'm getting this stuff for me, but - and who am I kidding - if she don't like it, ain't gonna fly. She's not a fan of musky type smells, so I'm hoping the St. James doesn't fall into that classic trap. I guess I'll see.

I suggested sandalwood when I was putting together my newb order, and she nixed it immediately.

Trumpers Violet is my hands down favorite. Great scent and great performance. Why don't you throw her a curve and pick up some classic scents like Musgo Real or Proraso?

Fear not. The St. James will in no way be mistaken for an old lady. No question it's a man's cologne scent. It will be very powerful in the tub but in use is not as aromatic and is a delight to shave with. IMHO, you've made a fine choice. Could have also gone with Eton College and done very well for yourself. Enjoy the additions and I second the nomination of S1C1 as a new disorder on B&B.

I think I have seen this episode before:

He excitedly shows her the new creams.

She says the violet smells like an old lady and the St. James smells like an old man.

As she exits the room he slumps down dejected, in the background a trombone goes "wah, wah, wah."

Roll credits.

Seriously, good luck with this. I find her sense of smell seems to change for no logical reason and what she liked today she doesn't tomorrow.

+1

We'll see. I think the lavender will be a winner.

I took delivery of the Taylor's Lavender and St. James yesterday - we'll see how tomorrow morning's shave goes with the lavender.
