each blade belongs to one side

When i was young my father told me "each blade belongs to one side of your face, that way it wear's down evenly"

For some reason I repeat that to myself each morning as i shave, even if i don't follow it.

Do any of you have a strange little mantra or odd thing you do while shaving?

Every time I swish my razor in the water to get the lather off it, I rotate the razor so I'll wear the blade out evenly - probably 90 per cent of the time; I'm not obsessive about it.

Whenever the blade goes off my face, I switch sides. No idea why.

Uh oh something else to think about....I've never thought about what I do. I just follow what I grew up seeing my father do minus the canned barbasol. Thinking about it I am pretty sure it's one stroke rinse, flip blade, one stroke rinse etc....

I can never remember to flip - but the blade usually tells me when I've been using one side too much and then I have to flip it

Seriously, I think that it is cool that your dad taught you anything about shaving. Mine had a beard and Grand dad used an electric.

No worse for your OCD than that guy who put the idea in my head that the knurling on TTO knobs has to line up with the rest of the handle - yah, now try to NOT pay attention to that every day!
