Dunhill Nightcap in bulk

So I noticed Dunhill Nightcap is now available in bulk from SP. I think there are a few people around here that will be happy to hear?

Very intriguing! I think 4noggins has it as well, but SP's prices look to be lower. Previously, the only option was a knock-off bulk blend sold by P&C.

I think I may still have some old tins of Nightcap somewhere.

Have never bought it in bulk. I have about 40 tins or so of the Murrays I'm saving for a rainy day though.

I've never tried the Murray's but Nightcap is my favorite tobacco. What do you personally think of the current formula compared to the "original"?

I stopped by my closest pipe shop, and they had dunhill nightcap in bulk as well. I'm pretty new to pipes, so I just bought 1oz. to try (not like I can't go back and get more)

Good stuff. Dark, but overall pretty mild. A great end of the day smoke.

Haven't bought any tins of tobacco at all yet (everything I've found locally is nothing I'm interested in) but, I'd be interested in aging a tin or two of nightcap to see what that's all about.

Keep sampling till you find something you like, nothing wrong with that!

Yeah I tried a medium english, I believe made by sutliff, because the guy at tobacco leaf always pushes Sutliff Z45 on everyone that walks through the door. Apparently it's their best seller.

Anyway I really enjoyed the medium english, so I have a few ounces on reserve, but I'm not that frequent of a pipe smoker so I don't want my stock to get too big! The nightcap to me is a little more mild and a little darker than the medium english, definitely similar though. So I'm a fan!

But don't worry, I'll be sampling for the next 20 years with all the options out there!:001_tt2:

Do we know if this is the same Nightcap that is being sold in the tins? I'd hate to buy like a pound of it only to find out it tastes nothing like the "real" stuff.

On SP they are advertising the bulk with the Dunhill name, and the logo of Nightcap so seeing as they are a reputable company it should be legit.

Some people will swear that certain bulk blends taste completely different than their tinned counterparts. I was thinking more along the lines of that than a bait and switch tactic by SP.

Tough one to answer. Nightcap has been my fave since the first time I tried it. The new stuff isn't as robust or mellow, and I find it has a slightly 'bitter' taste, though it is not bad. Every tin I crack has 10+ years on it so the taste has changed somewhat. If my memory serves me correctly though, this new stuff is a shadow of its former glory, (all us old smokers say the same crap), but then again having smoked probably 200 tins over the past 30 years, I could just be really confused and forget what it used to taste like back in the day. Better or worse does not matter, all depends on how much you like it at the moment.
