Drying the brush or making a shave stand

I don't have a shaving stand, I am drying my brush in a glass with some plastic hooked at the top, I don't think it works so well.

I am thinking of tying it to a string and letting it hang off the shower railing.

Is there an easy way to make a good stand?

Thanks

You need to let the air circulate around it....there are two "opposing" views, some who say stand it bristles up to speed up capillary action and evaporation. Others say down to let gravity do the job.

Simple solution. But watch the humidity in that location.

If your brush has a flat base you can just leave it standing! :001_smile

With a bit of creativity and a decent gauge coat hanger, you can make one to hang off a towel rack. I did this for my Wee Scott since it's so tiny . And that's NOT what she said...

The string or wire coat hanger thing would definitely work. Though you may want to dry it someplace outside the bathroom because bathrooms can be pretty humid and you don't want the brush to get moldy. There are also cheap plastic stands you get for around $5.

Seriously, as long as you give the brush a good shakin', there shouldn't be enough water left in the brush that would even be affected(effected?) by gravity, so even though I have a stand that came with my brush, I really hardly us it.

I just "made" this, because the box says try it upside down, I think this will work well!
It's easy if you want to do it just make a figure 8 with a rubber band and that's it.

hi
with mine i wash out in warm water and shake out much as possible and then use a square of tissue and squeeze , then either leave in a brush stand or stand up .normally always dry the next day . :thumbup1:

hi
forgot to say ,if your brush falls the handle will break ,i bought a new kent bk4 and only had it a week and broke the handle , well chipped a great chunk out :blushing:,took me weeks to decide to buy it and that happened . and the brush only fell 3 feet to a tiled floor .i put it on a wooden self and it toppled over because it was wet .my other brush i have had for 30 years and think its only been dropped about twice .

I use a piece of chewing gum. I'd put it on the bottom of the brush handle and stick to the ceiling in my bathroom......then I found out that online vendors sell stands for $5-$10......

Or...if you're willing to spring VERY cheaply for a great acrylic stand...check out SSILCOX on this forum. He custom makes them for under 20 bucks if memory serves...

You don't need a stand.
Unless you want one to make your brush look nice (which is a perfectly acceptable reason)
