Dr Martens 'Capper' boots

I'm thinking of getting a pair of the Dr Marten 'Capper' boot. They're made in England and come in either black or oxblood. I have a number of pairs of Dr Marten shoes including a 22 year old pair of 1461s that I still wear often. Fall is just around the corner and I've been looking for a pair of boots for my daily wear with jeans. I've never worn Dr Marten boots but I do trust the name.

Does anyone have a pair? I have to order them online from DrMartens.ca so no chance of touchy feeling prior to getting them. Just looking for general input from the members. I'm also not looking for something that my grand daughters wouldn't steal.

Those are very distinct. I don't like them for me, but I do dig them a lot if they fit into your style.

The yellow stitching on the oxblood is really neat.

Aren't the black ones in limited stock. At least they were at http://www.dmusastore.com when I looked about a month ago.

Also aren't these some kind of love or hate boots...I have never worn them, but they seem to generate a response beyond their functional appeal. Maybe they are too fashion foward or fashion retro....I can not tell.

They're not limited stock in the Canadian store but they are certainly love 'em or hate em.

Is that a physical store or online store? I tried your .ca link and got redirected back to the US store which had the black boots on sale at a significant discount, except there where no sizes offered in between UK-6 and UK-12.

I had a pair of their boots that survived 9 years in POL, 3 Nijmegan marches, the Swiss army night march and the Falklands, bloody awesome footwear that I owned for 26 years.
I currently have a black pair from their MIE collection and a Union Jack pair I wore as a dare on 4th July when I worked at a Ford dealership in Florida.
Can't fault their boots, the only DM's that failed me where some shoes with the padding around the ankle, padding dried out and cracked.

They'll Insulate your feet from the cold/hot ground that's for sure.

Skinheads used to wear ox blood coloured boots with jeans, punks used to wear them also.
Dm foot wear has a history with certain groups, the ones never mentioned are Police men on the beat; they all had them for their cushioning properties and the insulation against the cold concrete they walked.

I know that the boots will fit and wear well. My biggest concern is that they might be just a tad flashy

I tried on a pair at the Chicago DM store; I liked them, but my wife didn't, so I passed (I ended up getting a pair of Red Wing Beckmans in Black Cherry instead).
They do look sharp, along with being well-built and comfortable. Get them.

I may just like the Beckmans better. I'm going to the Redwing store next week when I get back from leave and have a gander at them. Thanks for the tip.

I saw them in store a few days ago. I liked them, but the bright polished brass eyelets really shouted at me when I saw them. I would still contemplate getting the oxblood color.

I did pickup a pair of the made in England 8 eyelet oxbloods, and will begin breaking them in this week.

I'd say they are a classic, not flashy.
Flashy are girls white Cowboy boots with red rhinestones...lol

I wear my Union Jack DM boots often and no one pays any attention.
When I wore them in the dealership it took the footwear Nazis 42 minutes to notice so I wouldn't be to concerned about flashy, just buy them for comfort and practicality.

Just tell them "... but, I didn't think you jack-booted thugs would mind a Union-Jack-booted thug in your midst."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

This first pair the store brought in were the wrong size so they re-ordered. I went to pick them up yesterday. I find one boot tight to get my foot into the top but I think it is because the tongue is sewed so high and I imagine it will stretch a bit. Having the tongue sewed this way is a good idea as it will not move side to side as other boots where the tongue is loose for the last 4 or 5 eyelets. If I could nitpick a fault I would say the laces are short but that certainly is not a big issue. They fit like a glove (I went a half size down). I wore them around the house for an hour or so yesterday and I wore them outside all morning and I can feel them getting more comfortable by the minute. One of the salesman was opening up a new shipment of the Red Wing belts and I drooled over them for a minute but didn't get one 'this trip' I can tell that I am going to be very happy with this pair of boots.

Red Wing Beckmans in Antique Cigar.

These are nice boots, but run narrow. Is there a good boot for someone who needs an E width? I've seen 2E and 3E. I suppose 2E might work.
