DR Harris Windsor Shaving Cream?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on Windsor. For those of you that already own it, how would you describe the scent?

By the way, I already own Arlington shaving soap and love it, but much prefer creams.

Hey Mendel, have you ever tried Blennheim Bouquet? The two are similar enough to give you a basic idea of how it smells.
If you send an email request about Windsor to DRH, they'll send you a fancy handwritten post card along with two "moist towlette" type cologne samples. I find the cream to be spot on in scent compared to those samples.

I just bought it - see link here:

Windsor scent is like a copy of Terre D´Hermés EDT (not the PP) with a bit of added Penhaligon Blenheims Bouquet.
Very nice scent - but a close copy of TDH with added BB, so not original at all, but never the less a wonderful scent - but a copy cat :sneaky2:

Shaving performance based on my sample is like my 3 other DR Harris creams : 9.5/10, better than my 2 Castle Forbes (not kidding)
My skin and water likes DR Harris shaving creams - I have 4, and they all get 9.5/10 in my book.
Awesome thick lather.
Awesome glide.
Awesome skin protection.
Nice scents - I own Windsor, Almond, Arlington and Marlborough

Better than Castle Forbes?! My Castle Forbes Lime is my favorite cream, so much so, I want to move to Scotland.:biggrin1:

Citrus with a strong base note, definitely some vetyver. It reminds of Eau Savage but it's been at least 15 years since I last smelled that. To me it is a very masculine scent but not overpowering. I prefer it to Arlington.

FYI I'm not that huge if of a fan of Castle Forbes, own the Lime and Lavender and while both are great shaving creams, they are not among my 10-15 favorites (I own 60+ shaving creams)
Either my EXTREME hard water and skin does not suit Castle Forbes or I got a bad batch of 2 pots of CF, either way - I think it's an overrated shaving cream.
Yes, the lime and lavender scent are divine, but after 25-30 shaves with both CF Lime and CF lavender, I still get a lather that dries out on me if I don't shave fast from 2 shaving creams - Fitjar and Castle Forbes.
I have used more product, I have used less product and more water, and if I add too much water, it starts to run on me.

I don't get that dry lather from any of my other 57 different shaving creams - and the healing properties of CF Lime is below average on my skin.
That's why I think it's an overrated shaving cream - only the scent makes it wonderful IMHO, a bit like Fitjar shaving cream to be honest, although I far prefer Castle Forbes to Fitjar, but both share some of the same issues on my skin.
I've shaved for 1 year now, so not a rookie any more, neither am I an experienced DE shaver, so take it for what it is based on that information :001_smile

I would still move to Scotland!

I fell in love with it when I got my samples of the cream, as, and EdT from Garry. Excellent scent, and the EdT has some good staying power, which I've heard has been a ding against the Arlington EdT.

Used My sample from Garry. Most excellent and I will be picking up a tub when I burn through some current inventory. No room!

The aftershave is nice too.

D.R. Harris sent me samples of their scents when I ordered Arlington shaving soap and I instantly fell in love with the Windsor. The first word that popped into my mind when I opened the Windsor was "KING". That can't be bad so I ordered shavingcream, Eau de Toilette, aftershave and deostick of the Windsor-range. The scent starts out with a citrus note and settles, in my case, into a complex yet mild vetyver spicy scent that last all day and most of the evening. As a positive side effect the ladies loves it too ;) Positive comments all the way.

D.R. Harris Windsor is my current favorite shaving cream. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at describing scents, but I would call it fresh, sweet, and clean. It's definitely on the traditional rather than the modern side of cologne scents.

I pulled the trigger on Windsor today...can't wait until Monday for it to arrive and test it out.

It's a great cream - like my other 3 from DR Harris, but I somehow like DR Harris better than the 3 T's (and I really enjoy the 3 T's creams) - the Windosr is kind of fantastic really :001_wub:

I used the Windsor cream the other day and I was quite surprised at its performance. I'm more of a soap guy but this one performed really well, perhaps equalling GFT coconut which is my favorite cream. I ordered Windsor soap but now I'm thinking about getting the cream as well and making super lathers.

Mendel, do yourself a favor and just buy it. It's a fantastic product both in scent and performance. It's in my top 3 right now, with MdC and Vitos Red. Well, QCS probably has MdC beat right now just due to the hot Georgia weather.

See now, this whole TDHermes similiarity is turning me off a bit.. but then some describe it as clean, sweet and fresh which I like but none of those words describe TDH. I always found TDH to have a very earthy vibe to it and basically smelled like an orange covered in dirt which I guess comes from the vetiver and patchoul. I guess I will have to acquire a sample and decide for myself.

I broke under the pressure and bought it! Excellent performer and fantastic scent. So much so, I'm ordering the after shave and deodorant.
