dove rose

My wife picked up a package of this soap last week,I grabbed a bar to wash my hands with...wow.Smelled really good a nice rose scent, soft not too loud and slickly moisturizing.

So you can see where this is going...How would it shave?I decided to try an experiment.I lightly rubbed my face with a vintage Kaloderma shave stick after a few face washes and masssages. Then I loaded an old Burma brush with the Dove Rose soap and ran it over my face mixing the two soaps and then building some lather in a bowl for future passes.I did 3 passes and had some lather left if I needed another pass.I ended up with a nice shave and nice scent in the bathroom. My face was soft and I could see pairing this up with a mix of Avon Wild Country-Avon Rose a/s for a special night out.

Now I just need to try it unmixed,Or maybe chip it up with some Williams for a sweet frankensoap.

You brought back a childhood memory as I remember once my mom bought the rose pink colored Dove instead of the regular one. Interesting that it worked out for you as a shave soap.

Have not been able to replenish my Asquith-Smith English Rose bath soap lately, and saw this thread with great interest! Did a web search on Dove Rose and found many reviews; but not one mentioned rose scent. Floral was mentioned, but no one said anything about rose. Urr-lord, do others smell the rose?

I commented to my wife that I enjoyed the scent when she used it.Her reply was- it's rose,I like it.

I like it far better than the Yardley rose-pomegranite.The yardley smells like candy, the dove does not.The dove is a soft, pleasant rose scent.

If you want to try a really nice rose-scented bath soap, try Hugo Naturals Wild African Rose. Wonderful scent, amazing lather.

Michelle at Mystic Waters is also working on a rose-lemon bath soap as well as shave soap.

I have shaved with the plain ol Dove Beauty Bar and really liked the results. Rub the bar on your face like a shave stick and it lathers quite well.
