Double ring?

Yes the double ring was the first model commercially produced by Gillette. To find a cased one after 110 years is a good day for a collector.

That seems fairly reasonable compared to what some have gone for in the recent past. That case appears to be in pretty good shape which helps the value along a lot. Also, the razor itself looks to be in nice condition too. The question was asked about cracks in the barrel. No cracks is pretty rare to my understanding. I "think" there might be a slightly bent corner tooth (in the second picture, the tooth nearest the case and nearest the table looks a bit tweaked to me), but that isn't uncommon either. It does have a serial number, but I cannot make out if it is a Patent Apl'd For model or if it has the PAT. NOV. 15.04 inscription. Either way, it is a nice example of the first Gillette.

Correct me if I'm wrong, a double ring just went for $301.55

Is it just rarity? This was the earliest DE razor?

That was a tremendous deal.... If they found some banks and put that on after the new year they could have made way more.
