Doing it backward?

I think I'm doing this backwards :) I started out a few months ago with wetshaving. I started with a straight razor but quickly got a DE razor as well. Today, for some reason, I just decided to order a Parker Shavette :)

I'm doing this backwards I think!

Actually I don't intend to primarily use the shavette. It was inexpensive and I just wanted to try out one to see how it shaves. It doesn't really appeal to me but I'm curious. I think it might be a way to see how close I can shave the chin and upper lip areas. I have problems in those areas with a straight.

If I can do it with a shavette I'll know that the only issue with a straight is that perhaps it's not sharp enough. If I can't do it well with a shavette either I'll know that I just need to work on my technique more.

I thought I was through buying shaving related gear but this one slipped through!

There really is no wrong way or backwards way of doing anything. This is a hobby you are showing interest in and what ever you wanna do do it. the important thing is that you enjoy your self in the process. I would say and this is just my advice is now that you have different tools to play with really focus on your technique and the routine get that down pat and you will learn what razor/ blade/ type of shaving you like better.

My self I use my ikon and arko everyday but on the weekends I use a straight and a nice cream I enjoy that more but only when i have the time. so switching it up is normal just gotta find your own rhyme and rhythm. I suck at honing so i love my shavette and am slowly working on my honing skill I dont find it to be an easier shave but more convenient.

Well if your like me...you will never be done buying shave gear. Theres always that new to you thing out there!!! And like previously stated, theres no wrong way to do anything in this hobby....Uh well there is:a46:, but as for the collecting part...

Luckily I'm not a collector (in any hobby). I do buy a little more than is truly needed in any hobby but not to the point of collecting.

I like the honing aspect of straight shaving as well. I don't want to be doing it everyday but then again once it's sharp you don't have to honing it all that much.
