Does Musgo Real Cream Gum Up Brushes?

I am going to try some Musgo Real - but I am leery to use on my new Rooney brush after reading a review citing such claims.

I've been using it for 3 days in a row now without any problems...

Been using it for a long time and never had an issue. I hear folks mention that but I think you may just need a little more water than other creams but honestly I've never had an issue with it.

You definitely have to use a lot of water with Musgo Real ... its a very thirsty cream. I find it works best with a sloppy-wet consistency, not the rich, creamy lather we're used to from other soaps and creams.

BTW, I found that when I used MR for the first time with my B&B Essential brush, it made the brush very soft. It was like an instant break-in treatment, probably from the lanolin in the cream. Once I washed the brush in borax, it went back to its original stiffness, then softened up again the next time I used the MR.

superb cream: delicious scent, lubricating lather, top ingredients (witch hazel!), no wasteful plastic container - what more can you ask for. i probably take a bit of extra care rinsing the brush, but there is no problem.

I'm using it with a silvertip Rooney. That sufficient encouragement for you :)? That said, I find I need to put in a bit more effort to get the brush and handle clean after shaving, using hotter watter. But this in no way approaches 'gumming up'.

Go for it. I find that Proraso and Omega tend to leave a slight residue on a brush and the only brush I used for 2+ years was Savile Row 3118. Even then, a quick little shampoo took care of that.

I've had no problems with it with large and small Rooney Heritage knots, Rooney 2/1 or 25 mm Shavemac knots. Throw caution to the wind and lather up!

Rumor has it that it can. But I clean my brushes every 6-8 weeks and haven't experienced the problem. Even if it did, I'd still use Musgo. I like it that much.

I noticed that the other day after using poraso. I was washing my hands and decided to fluff up the brush a little. a thick white powder was being puffed up in the air every time I ran my fingers through the bristles. I know I wash it pretty well after I use it. Seemed odd since with any other soap or creme I have never noticed that.

I used it w/my Rooney 3/1 in super silvertip and found it (and Tabac cream) need some extra rinsing or even some shampoo for the smell to completely leave the bristles. Other than that, no problems (although some would say that shampooing the scent out, not that the scent lingers, is the problem :001_rolle)
