Does Caswell Massey make a good sandlewood cologne?

I have tried scs sandlewood and like it but it has no projection I have to smell my skin to smell it

I was looking at caswell massey sandlewood but want to know if its stronger and has better projection?

If anyone can help I would appreciate it

Thanks

Jim

I'm curious about their aftershaves and colognes in general. Wish they had samples available.

I like their soaps; their brand of shave cream and soap gets lousy reviews (too bad since they make it sound so appealing.

They have another brand of cream too, called "Dr Hunter", and I wonder how that is too.

I use Caswell-Massey Sandalwood cologne on an almost daily basis, and love it! It is not as sweet nor deep as some sandalwoods (etro comes to mind), nor particularly spicy (despite C-M advertising). To me it starts out medicinal, but soon dries down to a nice, single-note aroma that is almost but not quite creamy. On me it wears close to the skin, but lasts the day. I cannot compare to scs since I have never smelled it. As an aftershave with it I use D.R. Harris sandalwood aftershave; this is much spicier. I highly recommend C-M sandalwood. Barclay Crocker usually advertises it for slightly less than Caswell-Massey, but I have ordered both my bottles from Caswell-Massey during their annual (?) sale. Good luck, John

Barclay Crocker does carry a sample kit of Caswell-Massey men's colognes, but, unfortunately, it does not include sandalwood.

Darn. It doesn't include Lime or Verbena either. (Or the Michelsen's Bay Rum - is this their own brand?) I also hope to try their aftershaves, which include an almond balm.

"The collection includes Newport, Number Six, Tricorn, Jockey Club and Greenbriar"

Gentlemen,

I use Caswell-Massey's No. 6 aftershave and cologne regularly, especially in the summer, and love them. The No. 6 cologne, which I prefer to the aftershave, is a complex potion of citrus in the top notes. According to Caswell-Massey, the No. 6 Cologne was designed for George Washington. That makes it even better, because anything made for George Washington is good enough for me.

I have used Dr. Hunter shave cream and find it rich and silky. A little of it goes a long way. It is not lather, however. I think the ladies might like it for shaving their legs. If you don't want to take a brush along on your travels, I recommend this shave cream. Although I have a travel brush and lather soap, occasionally I take a tube of this stuff along just in case my schedule is too tight.

I have also used their shave soap puck, and like it. The lather is rich and the shave smooth. The price is good, too.

I don't much care for their Greenbriar — I just don't like that fragrance type — so I can't comment on it. Nor have I tried their Sandlewood — also not one of my favorite fragrances — although I tried Crabtree's Sandlewood once upon a time.

Obelit

It should be noted that CM's Tricorn is a sandalwood scent. And it's quite good. A very "pure" smelling sandalwood.
