Does anything last in the B/S/T?

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
wet shaving items for sale on a wet shaving website at break even prices.

I've only been able to snag 2-3 things that I really wanted from the B/S/T.

Just the way it goes.

The ninja's are always lurking, lol:shuriken:. I guess some folks might be sitting there and hitting the refresh button. You have to be on your toes.

Prices tend to be very fair here, and with good pictures of the products, you can feel confident about what you're getting. I much prefer buying here than on eBay. The only downside is that things rarely last.

I agree with what most have said.

I will add this though, from what I've seen the community here is beyond fantastic. Everyone that I've interacted with has been a true gentleman and I think that breaks down any hesitation that a buyer might otherwise have purchasing from a relative stranger on the internet.

People here tend to sell at "good friend prices" and descriptions tend to be more critical than average so when you buy something you're usually getting a great deal on something that looks better than you expected when it arrives.

If you want it, it's probably already sold!

Seriously though, the folks here tend to have great taste in the first place, so when they put it up for sale, there's probably someone (or many folks) already wanting to buy that item. Much of the stuff here is in fantastic condition too. Fair prices make it a no brainer.

The B/S/T isn't a profit center so it's truly a bargain house. I haven't ever bought bad stuff, and always at a fair price.

But there are tons of members here, so folks just browsing and see a bargain on something isn't unlikely. For example, I just popped in on it a few days ago, saw a straight that hadn't sold because it was a little high, and I was the first dude after the price drop.

The whole idea is that it's supposed to be friendly sharing, not a real market place or bazaar. As such it's usually very fairly priced and turns very rapidly.

Some of the stuff that hasn't sold is a good deal too. Some of it just isn't needed by anyone but newbies.

I'm finding that only 3 weeks in I already have a couple of razors that aren't working for me, so I'm just counting the days before I can resell!!!

Heck, even the stuff that is a bad deal sells. I've been looking for a Merkur 39c for months. I've never seen one listed for cheaper than about 5 bucks off what a new one is, and they all sell in under 20 minutes. I'll probably just buy a new one one of these days.

There are some great deals to be had....I feel there is also some cachet to buying from the B/S/T ; and, seen to be a right of passage to becoming involved in the Badger and Blade phenomenon.

Things go fast -yes, but sometimes even a slow guy from far away gets a break.

A while ago a member here posted an extremely specific BST WTT ad. He had a very nice razor that made my heart jump. After a few days he changed his mind and wanted to trade to some other nice brush. We struck a deal in a few hours and I did manage to make the trade for a brush in current production.

Gillette Aristocrat # 16

The reason this razor made my heart jump was not that it's arguably the best (= rarest) of the British Rhodium plated Aristocrats but that I had about 7 years ago turned down an offer to have one of these ( though not in this shape) for free.

I had been using it on loan for some time when the widow of the former owner wanted to gift it to me. I respectfully turned the offer down because I already had an almost new German made razor. The equal parts of ignorance and arrogance in me had made me fall for the car analogy (Mercedes vs Austin). Even though I did feel that it shaved better than the Merkur...

If a person like me can get this lucky on the BST I truly believe everything can happen there. The key word is that it is a non-profit market place and that the people involved are extremely knowledgeable.

Thanks B&B :thumbup1: .

If there is something in particular you want, try posting a WTB. A lot of us have stuff that doesn't get into the rotation too often anymore!

Hey! The BST is part of Badger & Blade..... of course it is awesome

A combination of the factors mentioned above means that items go like hotcakes on an active hobbyist board. A WTB ad is often the best way to shake something loose.

Unfortunately some things go unnoticed and lurk on the second or third pages, never to be discovered, except by enterprising searchers looking to trade for something like... oh, I dunno... really nice shoes perhaps?
