Does Anyone (who is not a barber) Buy From A Barber's Supply?

I've purchased many times from Atlanta Barber Supply - great source for Pinaud, Master, etc....

I was poking around looking for information on another thread and stumbled on

http://www.appletonbarbersupply.com/store/shopexd.asp?id=582

12 oz bottle of Clubman for $4.50. Is that a good price? (I don't know about Clubman)

C-Mon 5/8 for $63.00 - good un-fancy razor, good price

Ooohhh, a hot lather machine, only $180 bucks.

This place sells to the public, too.

Cool

Being as you're in Canada, you'll have to calculate exchange, taxes and all that stuff onto your purchase. Check out Anthony's Barber Supply in Vancouver and Toronto Barber and Beauty Supply in Toronto. TBBS is hooked with Luxo Labs who make Boosters and JM Fraser's. Both also have Pinaud stuff.

Regards,

Les

I think I need a gallon of aftershave and witch hazel!

That product called razor glide sounded interesting. I wonder if it would be a good pretreatment?

There's a place called Barber Depot here in New Jersey, not far from where I live. The only problem is that they're only open Mon-Fri 9 to 5, ruling out regular visits.

I was able to go there a few months ago and picked up some Astra SP blades and a few tubes of Derby cream. They have a nice selection of the popular after shaves, but I didn't have time to explore.

A few years ago Appleton had the cheapest Feather A/Cs. Couldn't get them in Britain so I emailed them three times to see if they'd ship me one and they didn't reply to any of them.

It's now 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and last time they were sold out of Astras. I did pick up Osage Rub and a 'Country Club' size bottle of Clubman there, along with the Talc and Barbicide.

I've purchased from my local barber supply service before. That shop not only sells merchandise, they service the equipment that barbers and beauticians use.

I too have ordered from Barber Depot, twice in fact. Both times they shipped my package the same business day. I received my package 3 business days later. They also offer free shipping if your order total is high enough (but I don't remember what that amount is). However, if you want to order from them, call in your order. Their fax and email ordering is not reliable.

I faxed my order to Barber Depot on Friday, it was delivered on Tuesday. Great customer service and exceptional prices on Derby, Astra, and Dorco blades- as well as a limited number of other things you may find of intetest.

Appleton's is a pretty decent site. By far not the cheapest, but not outrageous either. I've ordered from them a few times.

I've been very pleased with Appleton Barber Supply. http://www.appletonbarbersupply.com/index.htm

My first order was Clubman BayRum (great stuff) & Pinaud Talc (Flesh) and a few other items including Stephan Stay Smooth Conditioning Shave Cream.

The total order was $44.00. The shipping was fast just a few days. It's one of my favorite places to shop. Give em a try!

I purchase some stuff from a Barber supply guy - sells out of a shop in his garage - great guy to pass a bit of time with. Feather blades are $7.95 CAD and his booster Aftershaves are $6.95 for 12oz.

As for shaving supplies I rarely if ever buy stuff from on-line vendors.

My supplies come from local Beauty Supply stores around my location.

I've found to my surprise that the locally owned shops carry items like Masters aftershave, Clubman and razor blades at some great prices.

Plus you may get a discount when they ask you if your a barber.
