Do You Shave Exclusively With Straights ONLY?

I must admit, one of the reasons I am a bit half-hearted in my pursuit of "straight wisdom" is that I have some really nifty DE and SE safety razors that I like a lot. It seems like a lot of guys- judging from posts I've read- get sucked into the straight world and divest themselves of their inferior DE safety razors once they've seen the light.

(Okay, I may be exaggerating a little...)

Seriously, do many of you still enjoy your DE and SE razors and straights, or are you converted to straights only?

Most of the time I stick to straights, but I have a couple of DEs hanging around. If I have a really tiny amount of scruff (late morning appointment after a evening shave) or I am in a hurry to make a tee time, I'll bust out the tech or the ss. They are nice for when you find a rogue whisker that you missed after you put all your stuff away. Once in a whileI do get a hankering for a DE.

I don't typically travel with straights either.

I would say im about 98% of a straight user. I do grab a DE every once in a while perhaps 2 shaves a month are a DE. Usually regret follows when I do use one.

I rarely use a DE, but I can't say 100% straight user. I tend to plan ahead well enough that I don't find myself in too much of a time crunch, and I can get an acceptable shower and shave (DFS) in 20 minutes if I have to.

Still have a Gillette Knack and a NEW, that I sent to have a fresh goldwash treatment. Use them as a last resort, either for lack of time or when I am recovering from a big drinking night and still have to shave the next morning (never try to use a str8 during a hangover - believe me :001_rolle)

Having said that, nothing separates me from my favourite Bengall!

I have found that traveling and shaving in a hurry have been good excuses for me to keep some DE's around. I, after all, started directly with straights. I had to go back and see what all the fuss was about concerning DE's. Over this summer (busiest of my life, including one month where I was in a different city every week) I used DE's almost exclusively just because I can get a near BBS shave in about 10-12 minutes with a DE. With a straight, I like to take my time and be a perfectionist with it.

I only use a DE to clean up the back of my neck when I cut my hair with my grandpa's electric clippers.
Other than that, straight razors only.

I like to get my fatty in there once in a while to mix things up a bit.I get the same quality shave no matter what I'm using. It gets a little boring using the same hardware over and over again.

I still use both as I am in the learning curve at the moment (Straight razor).

When the learning curve will reach an acceptable, mmm, curve, I will make a switch. I will keep 1 razor and sell the rest... That's how much I love it

I have a DE for days I ether can't or don't want to take my time and enjoy my shave. As recently I put a pretty good ding in my straight so of it went to the hone master. As I currently only have one that is shave ready.

I use the straight only. As Ambrose said, I usually regret using the DE. The hair grows back in more prickly and I have to wait a day or two before I can shave again .

If I use a DE, it's for time. I can shower and shave with my 23c in 10 minutes flat (or less).

I've not shaved with anything other than a straight since the first time I used one. And I don't have anything else to use. You could say that I'd rather not shave than use something else.

I started off the bat with a straight after leaving behind the electric/Mach 3 crap. I bought a couple of DEs after I found traveling with a straight a bit too much. I rarely, if ever use a DE (A British NEW) except when I go away. I just get a much better shave with a straight... Plus, I love them.

I use both. Trying to learn well about the Straight and mostly use that. Until the past couple of weeks where I have been using the hydrolast products and trying to learn on those with a DE. But, I have tried it a staright a couple of times as well. I will actually want to use the method products more with the straights.

sorry if that made sense or not. the ambien has kicked in.....

g'nite

I've been shaving exclusively with a straight since March of '08. My poor slants are probably feeling neglected.
