Do you rinse your mug?

When finished shaving do you rinse your mug or leave the lather in it to dry?
I always rinse mine with cold water but have heard others say they left the lather in.
What are the pro's and con's either way?
Thanks

Rinse = loss of product
VDH soap at 1.50 a puck - who cares
Trumpers at 45 bucks for a bowl, I care.

I leave the lather there. Because I'm stingy.

Advantage to the rinse: Looks tidy.

I'm not tidy.

Nooooo rinse, maybe wipe outside off with washcloth, No waste

How much more mileage can I expect if I stop rinsing my mug?? By mileage I mean how many extra shaves. Will the foam not get a little funky left in there? I am a thrifty gentleman so if it amounts to many shaves at all I am willing to try that approach.

Extra mileage is possibly negligible. Will the foam get funky? Probably not. I'ts going into your brush the very next time the mug gets used.

Hmmm. This is interesting. I think that there is probably more lather left in my brush at the end of a shave than in my mug, but I wiould never dream of not rinsing my brush (even at $45 bowl). Besides, I usually use a different soap every day, so unless they are complementary scents...

I quit rinsing my bowl out a few months ago and haven't really seen any difference as far as "Extra" mileage on my VDH.

However, its one less step and hell if I'm gonna go back to that rinsing my soap nonsense

I rinse everything. I'm a bit of a neat freak and I don't like when it looks untidy. I normally rinse and dry my brush then run it across the surface of the puck, not with enough pressure to take more soap off the puck but enough to get the residue foam off the top. Then rinse my brush again, obviously.

Rinse. It didn't occur to me to do otherwise until I read this thread. I'll continue rinsing, TYVM. If for no other reason than I rarely use the same soap/cream two days in a row.

Lather bowl- Yes
Soup tub- No

I never really saw the need to do so. Just swirl, cap, and go to town in the lather bowl.

Thought you meant the scuttle at first, which I rinse after every use. My soap bowls (similar to a mug I guess) I do not rinse however. I agree with saving product!

I have three soaps in rotation, the L'Occitane in its metal holder, and two other soaps in those small glass bowls with lids. I never rinse any of those out after use. Sometimes I let the ones with lids dry out a bit before I cover them up again, but that's about it.

So, the answer is obvious! Squeeze the lather out of your brush onto your puck before your rinse it out.

Does the OP's question intended for people who lather directly on the soap puck/bowl? I load my brush off the puck and then lather in a separate bowl. There's only very little lather left in my lathering bowl when I'm done. Almost all the lather is in the brush. So I don't think I'll be saving that much money by hanging on to the dried suds.
