do you really need to tone and moisturize?

was looking at the mens essentials routine. this part has always been missing from my daily. i don't use aftershave balm either since i live in the tropics but i'm thinking of adding these 2 steps. will they make a difference in the long run?

depends on your skin type and whether your prone to acne or not.

I tone and moisturize twice daily. I consider the aftershave splash a toner and use Jack Black double duty w/ 20 spf in the morning and Nancy Boy Ultramarine Night Cream at night.

I highly recommend the Jack Black double duty.

I tone and moisturize. I'm not sure how much the toning actually does for me, but it feels cool and refreshing going on the face. The Nancy Boy toner I have even smells great.

I've started moisturizing more often. I get stuck up in an office tower for 12-15 hous a day regularly. Can't complain that much, but the building's HVAC is like a drying oven. If I don't moisturize, my skin dries out, my hands crack, and it's miserable. So I've started using an ASB, creams, etc. But I don't "tone." It doesn't seem necessary.

i bought a toner from neutrogena once but it feels just like water. i'm not prone to acne.

do i need to moisturize in the tropics? we never have winter here. a sweater at most on very odd days of the year. it is not a humid place like thailand though so is there a moisturizer that works well in the dry heat? perhaps a moisturizer for those in the desert countries would work well too here. something easily accessible like neutrogena would be good.

I am prone to acne and I have to tone twice daily...toner tends to be another word for astringent. A light moisturizer is good simply because if you dry your face out too much you skin will actually produce more oil than necessary to make up for what is missing.

I use a moisturizer that my wife picked up in a skin care store. She used it and said I should try it. Works great.
