Do you match your scents?

I don't know which forum this belongs in, but I noticed that most shaving cream companies make the same scent in aftershave. I was wondering who buys and uses the same scent aftershave as their shaving soap/cream. I got some Mama Bear soap samples in the mail today and if they perform half as well as they're rumored to, I'll be buying the matching aftershave to go with the full size soap I'll buy. If it smells as good on as it does on the in the package, it'll most likely be the dublin tweed.

I didn't know if it would be popular or not. I was just thinking that if you find a scent you really like, you don't have to worry about it clashing with the scent of a different aftershave if you use something different. Just a way to wear the scent you like longer.

If it works for you, then by all means, do it! As with everything, YMMV. I just like using a good soap, then splashing on whatever I feel like for that day. Besides, a lot of my AS do not have an accompanying soap.

I wouldn't worry about the scent of the soap and aftershave clashing. The scent of almost all soaps will not linger once you rinse your face. If you find a scent you love, go for it. Personally, I like having some variety between scents in the morning but as always, YMMV.

Plus aftershave doesn't linger either!

given the # of scents available I try as many as possible - so I don't usually buy matching scents. Also - most of the aftershave scent doesn't last more thank 10-15 mins tops.

Sometimes I match.

L'Occitane Cade soap and AS

And then there are others that aren't made by the same people that go well together.

Like...

Fitjar Fjellheim and La Toja or any Bay Rum combination of soaps.

My favorite is Prairie creations bay/spiced rum and Dominica.

I do it. Not so much to prevent clash between the soap/cream and the AS splash, but I enjoy using them together for kind of a "themed shave".

(I know, it's a little odd)

Speick Day
Proraso Day
Rose Day
Lavender Day
Tabac Day
Menthol Day
Lime Day
Sandalwood Day
Arlington Day
Marlborough Day

I'll be ready for my padded room soon

I do the same thing on occasion.:thumbup1:
Most soaps don't last long after the shave, but I'll "pair" soap, AS, and cologne based more on general scent group, light and fresh scents for warmer days, darker heavy scents for cool days, floral scents get used on the same days, woodsy scents... I think you get the idea.

I go for themes. So on a rose day I will try to use all rose products, but I never buy an entire line of products to use together, excepting PSGT.

I tend to try and match scents when possible or when I like, and I definitely go for the "theme" days as mentioned above.

I do with certain products like Boosters splashes and JM Frasiers creams. I also happen to have a tub of Taylors ST. James cream and a shaving stick of the same scent that makes a great super lather. That said, I don't do that every day and I don't base my purchases on matching items.

I try to make sure that the scents that I use don't clash. They are not always matching and I quite often find myself using a scented Cream (or Soap) an unscented ASB and then a Cologne in a similar style to my shave cream or soap.

I do from time to time. If I shave with my TOBS Eton College, I tend to follow up with my Eton College splash.

I also use Brut and Old Spice AS, and will sometimes match as far as AS and deodorant, too. I apply the AS to a very wet face though, to cut down on the lingering affects so it isn't so overwhelming to those I am around everyday.

I try and keep it in the family, since I mainly use Old Spice products.
One combination I like is Swagger Body Wash, Mamma Bear Spice cologne and Ivy Club aftershave, with Classic roll on deodorant.
I hit that Ivy Club Spice with a little Lime and Peppercorn Bay Rum this morning and it seemed to enhance it a little, who knows? I may have smelled like a Haint all day.

Usually I don't, but sometimes I lather with Marlborough soap, splash with Marlborough AS, and top it off with a dab of Marlborough cologne. I do the same with a vetiver soap and vetiver AS & cologne. Kind of redundant. Most of the time, though, I use any cream or soap with any AS.
