Do You Have a "For Special Occasions Only" Razor in Your Collection/Rotation?

Just wondering if any of you have a razor in your collection/rotation that is so special/exclusive to you that you ONLY use it for special occasions.

I'm getting ready to start wet-shaving in a few days here, and I have a 1957 Gillette Superspeed and a Merkur HD 34C on the way, and when the Merkur arrives, I will probably use that as my primary razor and the 1957 will only be used when I am getting ready to go out with the wife to a special event or dinner or something.

When going out to a formal function and such I like to touch up the ole' face with a straight.

My guilty pleasure is a shave with the 40's SS :001_tt1: with rose scented soap with bay rum a/s.

the way I look at it, any time I shave it's a special occasion. besides, it would seem like a waste if I only got to use a specific safety razor a few times a year. who knows? maybe it'll come to that if I find something truly special, but for now it's a free for all

I use everything in my rotation. Maybe if I trusted a razor more then others I would use it for a date... but really I feel comfortable with all of them so it hasn't been the case.

Oh, I haven't use my Parker 86R in a LONG time. I better use it tomorrow before I'm labeled as a liar

I use a Rocket HD daily but if I really need to look my best - Gillette Sensor every time.

Gives me the quickest, smoothest shave possible.

My birth razor, a G4 dated Black Handled SuperSpeed. I still have not used it, I decided to wait until my birthday for its first use.

I do not have a special occasion razor. I am not a collector so I use my razors as high quality tools for shaving and not objects of art. Now I cannot say the same thing about colognes. I do only use some fragrances only on special occasions. I think I should build up my number of razors and maybe I will find a special occasion one.

None of my razors get used regularly really, but yes, I do have some that only get used on special occasions. My good #66, red tip rocket, TV Rocket, and a couple others. If I am uncomfortable leaving it sitting on a counter for a few days, it is a special occasion razor. :)

It's funny, because of your Avatar I read you posts imagining a yelling voice as I read it.

Back on topic. For special occations, I just shave using a DE blade between my pointer finger and thumb.

I guess I'd say yes and no.

My two favorites are a 1950 Aristocrat and a British #66.

But they're such excellent razors, why would I only use them a few times a year? They're my daily shavers.

Because I do deserve the best.

I keep my birthday razor reserved for one day a year.

I have a GEM Micromatic that was put into play for this years July 4th SotD, when the theme was "Made in America," along with all the soaps and creams and blades and brushes I have that were domestically grown. I'll probably do the same thing next year, too.

My SledgeHammer Slant gets into the act on a lot of Saturdays, when I'm getting styled up to go out nightclubbing.
