Do minor dings affect razors? I'd like to know so I can get a good idea on what is a usable razor, and what is just unusable from a stand-point of knowing what is wrong (i.e. not putting it to my face or skin for checking)?
Depending on location, minor dings may not affect the shave quality in the least. If you are able, look at the blade gap on both sides if the dings are in an area that may affect the shaving quality of the razor. Of course you would not want rough dings in any area that would come in contact with your skin. If the dings are on the handle or other place on the razor that only influence the aesthetics then it is a personal choice issue. I have been shaving for many years and from time to time the razors accidentally make contact with the faucet, sink or other things that cause minor dings that have not changed the shave quality at all. I would not discard a razor or pass on one if I could make the above inspection unless you only want perfect razors in your den.
Rivguy, that's exactly what I meant by it; dings from usage, not dropping and such. I'd assume it have to be a serious indentation to be bothersome or even affect anything.
